When you've been in second place consistently for ages, you're more likely to try new things and attempt to learn from past mistakes.
Also, I think that DC's failure in both gaming and film put more onus on the comics to carry the IPs into the future.
The absolute verse was a brilliant idea, successful both creatively and commercially. Based mostly off of allowing artists to do what they wanted, which resulted in two great books (Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter) two good books (Flash and Batman) and only one dud with Absolute Green Lantern.
The mainline stuff is also fairing well, more or less.
I don't care for Tom King's Wonder Woman, but she's certainly had far worse runs.
Supergirl is good so far. Same with Aquaman. I hear Green Lantern has been good.
They cancelled they shitty Powergirl comic, which was a good move.
