That's very frustrating and why I dislike her the most, because, well, consider:
Lisa is a scientist and her science is just fantasy for the sake of what's needed in the episode. In-universe her science works, and we just take what they show us.
Luna is in-universe a talented musician, but unlike Lisa's science, we can hear the music. It's in-universe good music and that's represented by making the music actually good to us. With Lisa, we have to trust the episode as is, with Luna we don't have to imagine her talent manifesting because we can hear it.
With Luan we're expected to just accept it, as with Lisa, except that it should be presented as something that works for us too like with Luna.
Luan is garbage. As I said, she's a waste of a vagina.

I’m relatively new to the fandom, so no, haven’t heard about them - gonna check them out. Yeah, I really liked it. The artstyle is immaculate and the fact that the author finished the story, unlike the original Secret comic, which disappeared from the radars on chapter 3 or 4, deserves an extra praise. And the ending was actually pretty good. It can always be better, but it wraps up the story really nicely with a bit of rhetorical afterthought of “what next”. Except the part of the plot where Lincoln rapes Lori, which is extremely unrealistic and out of character… It even destroys the whole atmosphere of abused and beaten Lincoln, painting him in more of a deserving his predicament light, which is IMO a big no-no in such stories.
I’m actually a bit of fan of misery porn, and the fact that there are so many stories where the sexual abuser is male on female, but so little good ones where the roles are reversed is a shame. Especially when abuser is a close family member - it adds an extra spicy salt to the injury of the abused one and betrayal of his trust.
So yeah, if you got something along the lines of “syngenesophobia”, but with more of a sexual part of the abuse or “make it with chu”, it would be highly appreciated.

Swain actually explained why he changed it. It wasn't that he got spooked he just found the story worked better if it was just 3 siblings in the house and their parents and couldn't find a believable way to explain away 9 other people for the length of time the story takes place over. And he's right, of just one more.person was in that house a lot stuff wouldn't have gone down the way it did.

Plus he was never actually a big fan of the show, he doesn't hate it just isn't into it, but he really likes Luna, dude has a type and apparently Luna is right smack dab in the middle of it, and he was a really big fan of sketchtoons original secret comic. Well, professional education + experience does that to a person. He probably has like 15 years of experience in the field behind his back.
