I can't speak for everyone, but 4chan seems unanimously convinced it was when Luke Skywalker (a farm boy) milked a cow.

2011-2012. After Tangled and Toy Story 3, but before Mars Needs Moms and Brave. Fr*zen was the last nail in the coffin.

Which they are right but for the wrong reason.
Disney died when they bought Star Wars. Star Wars was always one of the lowest effort, uninspired, corporate film series of all time, the Taylor Swift of films. It's a product and not a real film series, and never has made a single good product over 50 years. If it never existed nothing would change with films.
When Disney bought it, along with the similar MCU, they didn't need to put effort in their mainline products anymore, and they especially didn't need to put effort in marketing to boys anymore, since they now had Marvel and Slop Wars.
So they budget is pulled away from Disney/Pixar/Parks, only to be put to Star Wars, which has made even worse films and series somehow. Disney/Pixar becomes as assembly line as Star Wars to try and match it and fails without any creative passion anymore. They also go only CGI, same artstyle, and either sequels or female targeted only. And with people finally realizing Star Wars was always bad, MCU finally dropping off, and Disney/Pixar being uninspired to pissing people off, they are effectively dead.

When they stopped making hand drawn animation. The man himself died int he 1960s but his legacy died when his nephew Roy died and Iger and the board decided to turn the company into an IP mining factory.

It started around 2004 when they started making subpar movies that were easily outcompeted by Pixar and their response, instead of making a better product, was to buy Pixar in 2006. Ever since, they've stopped making Disney movies and started making Pixar movies with the Disney label slapped on. This lasted until around 2010. After that, they were making subpar Pixar movies that were one flop after another and their response, instead of making a better product, was to buy Marvel and Star Wars and shift into live action movies. Then, in an act of desperation, they went back to their previous successes and tried applying live action to those. I still remember the fucking Maleficent movie where she was the hero.

In short, Disney died the moment they gave up on their own product and just used someone else's .

During Covid.

Pre-Covid, Disney was an unstoppable juggernaut. Disney were putting out constant movies and making constant billions from dumb Americans. It was a time where Disney could put any piece of crap and normalize would eat it up.

Then Covid happened. People couldn’t go to theaters. Disney made Disney+. And the spell Disney put on people was lifted.

Now the only Disney films people care about are Nostalgia driven movies and Sequels (Inside Out 2, Spider-Man something Home, Deadpool 3, Toy Story 4, live action remakes based off 90s, etc)

Disney+ was also a bad idea since it meant parents could just use that instead of going to see certain Disney films in theaters. Why see a Pixar film when it will be on Disney+ in a month? Plus theaters are dangerous now with Zoomers going insane and trashing theaters for Memes and viral videos.

Actually it was when Leia used the force to revive herself and fly in the cold vacuum of space after being sucked out of her ship from an explosion. A feat so bonkers Yoda became a puppet again.

Last Jedi killed so much faith with Disney overall and marked the end of Star War's societal relevance.
