Simon Furman is why the US marvel run didn't have female transformers and were only begrudgingly in the movie comic and universe bio comics.

He hated the idea of female transformers so much that when he was asked to add them to IDW because a lot of fans liked the arcee character and hasbro was about to release an arcee toy, he went completely insane and made a male transformer forced transgendered by Jhiaxus just so all the transformers could still have male brains.

Things got even worse when there were more mandates from hasbro because more girl transformers were to be released.

I don't really have the energy to go into it. Maybe some other anon has the timeline of just how messed up gender was in the IDW comic just because SImon really wanted to make the series male only.

A note on the Medic, I drew a lot from Fanny (Numbuh 86) cause she was also a KND medic, so I made the medic with red hair and freckles in mind.

And all in all, there is barely any actual "role swap" here. Dipper still acts like Dipper, Pacifica still fulfil a similar role. A roleswap is much more than just recoloring characters, specially because being BIG MONEY is a major trait from the Northwests.

A true roleswap would be closer to the Reverse Falls AU. The Pine Twins would be minor antagonists that later join the heroes, fem Dipper would have as much presence in the plot as Pacifica and as many episodes dedicated to her.

The proper way to do it would have the Pines either be from Gravitty Falls (like in reveser Falls) OR have them be smug californians spending vacation there. I'd say to keep fem Dipper's interest for the supernatural tho - the difference is that she is rich and tried to shun that away because it wasn't "cool". If she is mean like Pacifica, she and Mabel probably fell apart on the last year or so, and Mabel is feeling lonely.

Pacifica is from a broke home, parents divorcing and he tries to act "cool ad trendy" despite that. I guess Mabel would try to flirt with him right away, but eventually they set into being friends. Issue is, there is nobody on this swap that can move the plot foward as either fem Dipper has the diary but isn't a protagonist - or male Pacifica has the diary, but has no reason to investigate it.

My thought is that if you want to TG a character while keeping them recognizably the same you want to recreate the shape of the original (including the outfit) while adapting it to whatever change you want to make. Since Dipper normally wears a jacket I would try a uniform that also includes an unbuttoned outer layer like a cardigan so you can get a similar shape. I would also untuck the shirt maybe?
