>>149270359It’s actually like, every cartoon but modern SB that’s doing meme faces these days. Which is funny because the retard LS Mark coined the term by criticizing modern SpongeBob instead of a cartoon that’s actually doing it like Gumball. The difference is that SpongeBob is so expressive cause the animators have fun and want to aim for a Ren & Stimpy-like look, it’s naturally expressive animation. The difference between said naturally expressive animation and meme faces is that the prior are trying to resemble actual expressions but pushed, taking influence from stuff like R&S and Looney Tunes, meanwhile meme faces used in shit like Gumball and Digital Circus are made for the purpose of becoming reaction images and appeasing the zoomers sense of humor.
Modern SB does have some meme faces every now and then, but that’s a side effect of having a cartoonist-driven show where they allow animators to have as much fun as they want.
Like seriously while I will admit modern SB is pretty style over substance these days the animation is underappreciated, it’s one of the few cartoons these days that actually WANTS to be a cartoon.
