Meh. As expected it came and went.

I think if everything was *exactly* the same with Williamson's execution of the idea BUT we still had 12 year old kid Jon, then the sentiment for this idea would be much more positive.

like the other guy said, its a throwback to silver age storylines. Super-lois has always been a thing they've toyed with.

It was always clearly going to be a temporary thing so there's no reason for anyone to seethe about it as much as they do on this board

If we had kid Jon, Super-son, it'd be fun to have a few months of Incredibles-style Superfamily. DC could create a couple of fun moments and splash pages that live on forever.

Creatively the "Superman" line is in a good place. But the Jon thing is unforgiveable to this board. I don't even know where there are other decent discussions of comics on the internet. Twitter and reddit opinions are useless. The books seem to still be selling decently in spite of the twink Jon development.

Don't get me wrong, I hate what Bendis & Didio and then Taylor did to Jon. The Super-Sons still had a lot of storytelling potential and it was all knee-capped.

But at the same time: I like Williamson's Superman. I think he's doing a very good job with an incredibly shitty status quo that was handed to him. My other fault with him is that he's not subtle about jamming in teases for the next big status quo shaking crossover event, So sometimes issues will just feel like a commercial for the next event and not their own standalone comic book. But overall, I've enjoyed the SuperCorp era.

I'm enjoying Worlds Finest, JLU and the new Waid Superboy run on Action. I liked the first issue of the Krypto mini. I'm loving Supergirl. Hell, the Kon-Kyle team up in Green Lantern is one of my favorite arcs right now. Superman is one of my favorite characters and I'm getting a good amount of Superman & super family stories. My exposure to Jon is kept to the bare minimum, so I can just ... ignore him. and I don't feel angry like you guys.

right now, I'd say the "Summer of Superman" is the best run the Super family has had since Rebirth. it cannot be understated how badly Bendis & Didio fucked it all up because of their bloated egos and arrogance. its a real shame.

I understand why this board is gun shy about dipping their toes back in.

DC is pretty clearly closing the door on the 5G generation as quietly as possible, so they don't kick up any negative publicity from whiny bloggers.

Adams is trying to make Jo and Teen Lantern work in GLC (and despite his best efforts, the characters are just albatrosses).

And Jon has been relegated to token mini series.

In a way DC is telling the twitter audience to put up or shut up and buy his minis and if they don't, then DC can just put him away for awhile with the least amount of pushback

Its just a storyline dude. Storylines don't need to be limited to one issue. A story can also be told over 12 issues.

The idea of "lois with powers" predates modern comics. you're projecting your own problems onto the book and presuming an unspoken agenda. its just rehashing a gimmick thats been done as recently as 2016

It’s pretty simple. I will never buy another Superman comic, I won’t go see a Superman movie, if I ever gets a game I won’t buy it or play it, until straight kid Jon Kent is brought back from space and gay teen Jon is explained to be a separate character who will now go off to space/college/the future only to be seen once or twice a year at most.

It really is that simple. That being said super Lois is fucking stupid and Williamson has like to notes he plays over and over: side character gets powers, villain works with heroes. He even ruined baroness in Joe. Fuck him.

Nobody reads Superman to see Lois with powers. For a one off issue? Kinda neat. For anything longer? It’s dumb. Modern writers just can’t help but devalue the main characters with constant derivatives and power ups of supporting cast.

It actively detracts from the main character of the book while devaluing Lois herself. Honestly don’t understand why MJ or Lois needed to be given super powers. Hell even commissioner Gordon being Batman for a bit was retarded back in the new 52, it completely undermines the characters.
