The Evangelion of /co/
Look at this picture. Look at it closely. Gumball looks so happy, peaceful and comfy. He is there in a peaceful room, wrapped by a comfortable blanket, being warmed by his mother’s lips. You can feel how much Gumball is enjoying this moment of peace. All the problems seems to have disappeared from his mind. It’s just he and Nicole. You even can feel how much he wants the moment to last forever. There is a deep meaning behind all of this.

Gumball is INSIDE of the room Nicole gave him. He is wrapped by the blanket Nicole gave him. He is enjoying the warmth Nicole’s body is giving him. Everything he has is a gift from Nicole. Everything in that room came from Nicole… even the own Gumball.

All of this is a metaphor. A metaphor of Gumball’s unconscious desire to return to the peaceful coziness of the womb. He was once part of his mother. They both were one. She gave him his own existence, his own identity the day she brought him into the world. He exists because of her. But the human existence isn't easy. The message here is subtle but powerful. Everybody, every single one of us has the unconscious desire to go back, back the past. Back to the primordial state. A state without work and responsibilities. A state without fears and pain. A state where no one is able to hurt us.

We have reached the peak of western cartoons deepness with this scene. Gumball and Nicole's relationship transcends simple narrative logic. It works on visual and deep emotional logic. I dare to say Gumball is the Neon Genesis Evangelion of the western cartoons.

Why there's no Western Neon Genesis Evangelion is the same reason why people misinterpret it as "anime culture bad: the anime"
NGE is about the dangers of escapism and how important it is to connect with others (Also, same message in ME!ME!ME!)
Essentially "touch grass" as someone would say
You can't do this in a Western cartoon because of how entrenched in fandom culture cartoons and animated shows are nowadays
For a Western NGE to work, it needs introspection and a break away from the surrounding culture
It needs to hit the audience (and even creators) where it hurts the most
If a cartoon did what NGE did, audiences would be uspet and harass the creators
People would do their best to cancel and shame the people behind the series
All because of how cartoon fans nowadays act
At least weebs are self aware but if anything, too self aware
Like they never got over that SomethingAwful influenced self hate and cringe culture

Also, it'd need sincerity: another thing Western media can't do proper anymore

The Gumbwall/Simpsons/Flinstones family is literally my own. My father was a fat fuck. A FAT FUCK. >:( and an intelligent open-minded mother with anger issues.

My childhood is literally a cartoon show.

>How, how did you end up?
Crypto millionaire
All women who aren't intelligent are lesser than animals
Fat people aren't human and should be killed on sight, especially the ones born fat they should be killed as babies. Fat ugly babies.
I listen to classical music, UNIRONICALLY as the gen-zoomers say these days.

What else do you want to know?
