This has been on the shelf for about 3 years. It is a time capsule of really "Progressive" shit which audiences are now starting to shift away from. So between out of date political nonsense and several consecutive underperforming projects (not to mention a dramatic narrative shift because Johnathan Majors got fired as Kang and RDJ was written a check to come back to play as Doom), this series was very clearly heavily edited in a desperate attempt to save it. They knew it was bad, didn't want to sink more money into it, and that's why it was released almost all at once.

I'm questioning if they'll just pretend like it didn't happen like Eternals, yet keep like ONE thing from it (Mephisto) similar to how the dead Celestial was referenced in Brave New World

More would be solved by breaking the story up into three parts and strip out the magic finale.

Part 1 - Riri at MIT part of a team of grad students trying to break the Stark Enigma or some other sciencey name that boils down to reverse engineering his tech and trying to produce suits, Riri invents her AI here and leaves MIT when some generic evil company (maybe Roxxon) takes everything because they were funding the research and a portable Jarvis style AI bridges the gap between shitty knockoffs and real Armour

Part 2 - Riri falls in with the Hood crew believing them to be robin hood style vigilantes that can help her recover Natalie and at this point Riri should have some bashed together tech kind of like Tony in Iron Man 3

Part 3 - Hood crew does their obvious betrayal inside Roxxon (or wherever) and reveal they want to sell the tech to the highest bidder, give each member of the crew some piece of iron man style gear as a personal trophy/weapon, Riri manages to recover Natalie at the same time and uses Natalie plus evil company's facility to quickly turn a prototype suit into Ironheart version 1 and defeats the crew. Stinger at the end should be Valentine (Thunderbolts) showing up at the company to swing her big government dick around and use the tech to make Iron Patriot (with the next appearance of Thunderbolts in a movie being a big press conference introing Patriot).

Keep her brash and overconfident until the betrayal makes her realize that she needs to make responsible decisions like a real hero. Zeke should be introduced but as a setup for season 2 friend to enemy conflict (likely spurred on by Riri refusing to share the tech with him).

I dislike Miles Morales, but ITSV actually made me like him (before Insomniac game made me dislike him again and ATSV writers turned me off even further), so even though I loathed Riri Williams, I was hoping that MCU would write her better.

I watched only the part of the first episode but consider this my full review:

Introducing her on Black Panther was silly. This simple rewrite:

Checking on what professional reviewers are saying, most of the negativity seems to come down to "it's the MCU" and "Riri's characterization is lacking." The MCU part would have been impossible to overcome in any case, there's no helping it. The part about Riri's character is a little iffier since reviewers can't seem to agree whether it's the writing or the delivery or both. But even the people writing positively about Riri and the show, can't seem to muster much excitement for other characters and elements of the story.

I guess secondary to the above I've seen a few mentions of the pacing being too slow or the tone being too dreary. Even then the themes developed through the story seem to have garnered interest even when the execution had people split.
