Why is stuff for kids horribly neutered nowadays?
>no death or violence. no one gets hurt (no injuries, no broken bones, no near-death experiences). it often feels like there are no stakes
>no unhappy things like fighting and quarreling, jealousy, or divorces
>no jokes about any matters that can be considered remotely controversial (no harmless jokes like it's going to my thighs, no entered the wrong bathroom and got smacked scenes, etc.)
>no pondering on the deeper implications of worldbuilding
>dumb, stupid cartoon villains with shallow motivations that make no sense. only possible way to make it palatable is to lean heavily on comedy and pettiness (e.g. I'm a mad scientist because the scientific council didn't my scientist diploma when I graduated (turns out they just forgot), so now I'm going to erase it from the map. or I'm only in it for the villain cred to net me some hot chicks. alternatively, the villain thinks it looks good on his resume)
Even when I was a kid, I thought this kinda stuff was gay and retarded babyshit and wanted something cooler that didn't talk down to me.
