So it turns out that the new KingStone VeggieTales film will be animated entirely with AI
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kUSOfEsQ0ac

The fact that this news happened days ago and not a lot of people even know about it other than some Thomas-loving autists just shows how hard this franchise fell off.

I find VeggieTales as a franchise to be interesting cause it’s been on one long downward spiral since the Jonah movie. After that the series hasn’t been as good as the classic episodes, then the whole VeggieTales in the House stuff happened, then some shit happened where they fired the original crew, not to mention all the distributors it was sold to.

This franchise suffered a fate worse than death.

even cheap 2000s CGI animation could be consistent and not have to change shots every few seconds

VeggieTales fanbase has been reduced to nothing more than YouTube autists.

The show was a huge cultural phenomena in the late 90’s and early-mid 2000’s, it stood out cause it was one of the few pieces Christian media that wasn’t low budget slop and managed to appeal to everyone. Now VeggieTales has became standard low budget Christian slop, which obviously uses AI to be as cheap and lazy as possible.

It sucks how every low budget cashgrab studio uses AI these days.

I find it more fascinating when they try to put a string of effort into their low budget slop and make some of the most fascinating disasters ever like:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=veVPWYNTj00

If something like this was made today they’d obvi use AI instead of low budget CGI

I actually watched a couple minutes of the old veggie tales show and it looks like a masterpiece compared to this swap. Characters actually moved and their mouths worked, these people didn't even try they went with the first pass with the AI slop didn't even watch it didn't even try to make something, just crapped it out threw it up and then when people started bitching about it they unlisted the videos. They even know it's crap they know what they're making is garbage, even someone like Cwc things that he's making something interesting and that's the most craziest part about this whole AI thing is these people know they're making crap, they're not even delusional enough to say they're making things good

Is it that hard to just hire 3D animators? AI just screams laziness, not to mention VeggieTales is like the easiest fucking 3D artstyle to replicate, ever wonder how autistic fans are able to replicate this animation style so perfectly?

It's not hard to find someone and can work on these kinds of films, you just got to go find them. Hell even a "prompt engineer" could have done a better job they just didn't give a damn. Characters don't even blink right the mouth move is going to make sense none of it makes sense it looks terrible and you know that they just picked the first thing that was generated.

>VeggieTales fanbase has been reduced to nothing more than YouTube autists.
You say that, but those autists are bestowed with absolute fucking godlike power (no pun intended) to perfectly replicate the show's golden age to a T. It's a fascinating pocket of the internet because it might genuinely be the only deeply autistic fandom that is capable of perfectly replicating the object of their interest. In that case I'll let them rip this shit apart.
>Now VeggieTales has became standard low budget Christian slop, which obviously uses AI to be as cheap and lazy as possible.
This is the thing about VT that I always liked is that it was made from a place of genuine belief and faith, and not JUST trying to either make money or do the bare fucking minimum to ensure insurance to heaven through works to please Jesus (something that I'm sure the people making this probably are trying to do, maybe both). Of course you need to make sure you are paying the bills and holding true to the character of Christianity - as you do with any ministry - but at what point are you just phoning it in, like these people seem to be?

AI lets 2 people make an entire film. They can subcontract out music and write the whole film themselves, then they make tens of thousands of dollars from distribution. All for like $10,000. There's no reason for them NOT to use AI.

Who would pay to go?
Everyone would likely demand that ticket prices proportionally match the budget for AI which if it really cost like 10k it would cost the price of 2 unskippable ads that run for a total for 30 seconds

This is nothing compared to breaking one of Phil Vischer's biggest rules of never depicted Jesus as a vegetable and then firing him, not to mention the Larryboy Movie that they won't have him involved with in any way.

I know Phil Vischer is a terrible business man but you'd think they'd at least want his approval or something.

The voice acting and music in this are pretty serviceable. If anything, the janky animation adds to the experience.
Certainly more enjoyable than whatever the hell VeggieTales has turned into.

No, they should have used GoAnimate because it's the most soulful form of animation there is. Disagree? Don't care.
