It's kinda wild how the movie feels like it was made for a younger audience than the animated series or even the comics.
Leguizamo as the Clown is still an all-timer , though.

The showrunners were better than McFarlane himself, It's shame they didn't continue with their show.

No? Mortal Kombat is nothing but a cameo Might as well suggest Call Of Duty, they had Keith David and one of the few places outside of the comic where Al Simmons made an appearance. No Chapel, though, which is odd.

If I remember correctly, When Spawn got the movie, they canonically changed Al's killer to Priest in the comics.

Chapel belongs to Liefeld, and McFarlane was one of the people who voted Liefeld out of Image in the late 90's. They've seemingly somewhat mended fences but that's just a crossover we'll never see again because the rights issues just become too complicated, especially with what a legal mess Liefeld's characters have become.

What the fuck is even going on with the comics at this point? There's like 100 spawn books right now

Heaven and Hell have made themselves known to the general population and hilarity ensues. I know that sounds cool but it’s really not, the last like five issues have just been Spawn and a bunch of Spawn variants watching a giant creature from Hell walk across the ocean.

That was by design, Todd wanted the movie to appeal to a younger audience and the cartoon to appeal to an older audience. He said he wanted each adaption to have its own flavor but retain the general attitude

funny as fuck to read about how the writers had to introduce things like subtly and character development to a confused todd mcfarlane

I am starting to read Spawn, its not bad, but I like the movie more so far. Going to try to read all 300 issues. I had no idea it was still going.

I am still baffled that the Call of Duty line of Spawn figures are probably the best released

do spawn comics even sell well anymore? I feel like hes just one of those "damn he looks cool" designs but no one has actually cared for the actual story in forever

Despite being curated by just one guy for the entire run Spawn canon is a bit of a mess. Technically Armageddon has already happened and God and Satan were banished but they came back with no explanation.

I think it’s the best selling Image book outside the Skybound Transformers stuff but I mean that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re selling gangbusters. I’ve been following the book since day 1 and even I will tell you the cartoon is far and away the only legitimately “good” Spawn thing

Weirdly in the movie novelization she's named Chapel

Semi-related but congratulate Keith David for getting a star on the Hollywood walk of fame recently

Spawn makes a lot of sense when you realize it's just an excuse for Todd to sell action figures
Anonymous No.149292966 [Report]
>>149291785
it's a cool design and premise but it's not something that makes much sense long term

it would make the absolute most sense as a series, but with less fucking INCESSANT flashbacks and a bit snappier pacing than the HBO series. I like a good slow burn but the amount of fucking time dedicated to that goddamn alley is infuriating and the sheer amount of brooding VERY quickly reaches the limit of what most people can reasonably tolerate.

I liked all of Spawn media. Excluding the games because never played any of it. The movie, the HBO series, and the comics. Are all good.

This, much deserved.
