This is the thing about Alan Moore. If you have read anythign about his work, it's clear that if Rorsrach was just some brute and rapist - or even someone who enjoyed the pain and vilence he dishes out, Alan Moore would be absolutely glazing him (see, for an example his treatment of Hyde in LoEOG).
But because he is interested in justice and morals, he has to slander and smear him.

Watchmen doesn't work if Moore didn't create Rorscach to be likable even if he's flawed. Moore frames the narrative to make him as likeable as he is. Even when he's doing horrible things he's generally doing it to people you don't care too much are getting hurt by him because Moore makes sure they're written to not make him look that bad. And when he threatens people that don't deserve it as much, he has him pull his punches, like with Moloch or his landlady with all her bastard children.

Firstly that comic is bait and has been posted here a lot. It is 100% wrong. That is the issue here. People don't read in-depth interviews that Alan Moore did over the years, they focus on bait. The one quote on Rorschach people post is the one where Moore was, in context, talking about certain fans who are a bit weird. But this weird narrative has formed that "Moore didn't intend for Rorschach to be heroic or for people to like him." Moore did intend for Rorschach to be heroic his issue specifically is people who take their worship too far because that misses the point.

I find the relationship people have with Moore to be fucking weird because on the one hand, people cling onto his work like a life raft to defend their comics as mature or interesting whilst on the other hand they constantly shit all over Moore to feel clever themselves whilst outing themselves as idiots.

You know what is funny, even if someone did that, Moore would probably be polite to them.

People sometimes express a view of Alan Moore as "angry and bitter old man". And actually, as someone who has met him irl, he is very nice, calm, softly spoken and charitable. He often gives "angry old man" quotes when people seek him out over stuff and situations he has left behind. Even his daughter has talked about his love of comics still to this day, but largely he just likes doing his own little projects now (like his recent books). He has justification for giving angry quotes especially considering some of the bizarre stuff they did over the years (like the friend's brother situation).
