Eh, I think there's a bit more to the thread beyond that. I don't think these threads would endure as much if people also didn't like the personalities to a certain extent, it's easy to draw a bunch of nerd stereotypes and call it a day. I think Gloomy (and the other one you know who you are) have their finger on the pulse when it comes to authentically nerdy fringe girls. It helps being a woman as well as using part of their lived experience and all but they do a good job regardless coming up with a nice variety that isn't just your standard shit everyone else does.

Can I talk about my great OC in here, he’s an aspie supremacist who believes that there should be an Autistic Israel, or Autisrael, with government-mandated girlfriends matched based on attractiveness of woman to IQ score of man. Also he’s obsessed with Rome and has ‘converted’ to Hellenic Neo-Paganism, and is trying to bring back the Trans-Atlantic Accent.

He dresses like Rod Serling hosting The Night Gallery, has a Walt Disney pencil stache (or wants to, but can’t get it to grow evenly enough and sucks at self-grooming), and stands at an intimidating 5’11”. Eyes like Brad Dourif in that one X-Files episode, hair like HP Lovecraft. Pale as a blind cave fish. Capable of single-handedly making an Aryan Brotherhood member question the purity and strength of the white race.

gloomy makes great comics. However, the character designs get the viewers' attention first and we stay for the neat story. It's not bad to have cutesy characters, but if its fapbait it tends to be moreso big breast, big butt and tries to use sexualization to make the viewer stay like an ecchi anime. one of the first webcomics I read was Octopus Pie, which I vaguely remember either being associated with this comic or maybe the artist being friends with them? I do remember seeing ads for Blaster Nation on the Octopus Pie site.
Also, while I think the girls from the Octopus Pie comic are probably better off than the Dashr girls, I can see some similarities I can appreciate especially from the earlier comics. Especially since Eve was kinda a short angry girl stuck in a downwardly mobile position who vaguely tolerated and resented her friend.
