Why is the Simpsons so anti nuclear energy when studies show it's the safer than coal and oil?

ikr? i dont think it was inte tiobaly but unironically the simpsons took part in poisoning the minds of americans against nuclear energy.
and not once do they ever mention that thermal reactors are just nuclear weapons plants that also make energy. all the legit criticisms of nuke are absent.

The very word "nuclear" has a negative connotation in most people's minds. Its not thier fault tho, keeping the absolute worst case scenario at the forefront of our minds is probably one of the first survival mechanisms our species ever developed. Its pure lizard brain doing what its made to do.

It started at a point when the stigma against nuclear power was far stronger. Remember: Chernobyl wasn't that long before the premiere.

hes been confronted before. he claims he's not anti nuke and just wanted to give homer a ridiculous job for such a stupid guy. and mr burns is the villain so hes an evil rich business man stereotype who is his boss. therefore the plant must be doing bad things. if it was a shoe factory itd be something like child labor. if it were a bakery itd be sawdust in the bread. he has to do something evil in relation to his business.

which is still silly. no one had to "push the right button" at three mile. the core got so hot it melted the floor and the ground underneath it. it kept sinking into the earth burying itself safely. exactly how it was designed to.

>eats radioactive waste
>goes bowling
>gets a perfect game and sends a shockwave through all lanes
>no elaboration and the story moves forward
This always felt weird. It felt like there was a line or two more that's missing. Even back then Simpsons liked making note of stuff that happened.
