I don't get it. Are they turning into cartoon animals (with fail rate of becoming abominations) or are they mutating into anthropomorphic animals. The regular humans are drawn also highly cartoonish, so it's impossible to say. They are biological, but that mouse is clearly not an oversized mouse. she has vocal cords, opposable thumbs (mice and rats have none), she has retained her hair... doesn't seem to be a Kafka situation either.

also the last page signed "26/05/2024", but digital timestamp is 10th Jul 2025...

We don't know exactly what's happening but the biggest clue so far is that it seems to be size related. My guess is infection can make you smaller but if you're unlucky enough to turn into something too big for your body you become a bloodborne monster.

my point is that I don't understand the basic rules of reality in this world. Is it (A) a diegetically a realist world like ours, only stylistically depicted as a toon world or is it (B) an actual toon world with cartoony humans, that got infected by "disney virus with common side effects"? both ideas can be interesting in their own, but it's not even ambiguous. it's just not addressed.
the cat is an example of this flaw, because, unlike any other mutunt (viable or bloodborned) is an anthro, but the cat is just a cat. not a cartoony cat (like the horseshow quadruped, yet still anthro) - because the dad was easily fooled into thinking she was a regular cat before she spoke. which would suggest A, but then again all other viable mutants (mouse, bunny) are unmistakingly toons.
it's a worldbuilding mess. it needs some narrative anchors. by the page 95 one would expect at lest a couple.

There was a "normal" snake in the city page too. We dont yet know enough about the situation. There's no need to freak out like this. This is a 4 panel comic that used to update once a week. Its going to take a while to explain everything.

I think you got telephone-ed. In a shared artstream FizzleFroth told Valsalia that he'd always intended to jump around with POV, but he'd underestimated how much people would latch onto Abby, and he was worried he'd lose readers by not rushing back to her, but didn't want to rush other parts of the story. Valsalia said he hadn't originally intended the Yinglets to dominate the plot quite so much and you just had to roll with things and find a balance between doing stuff to keep readers without sacrificing your story.
I can see how a bad telling of this interaction might result in "GF was going to be an anthology and OOPS wasn't going to be about Yinglets."
