It managed to use the edge in a reasonable fashion and the game only wanted to tell a fun story and let the player go nuts with the Chao Garden and oogle at Rouge's jiggle physics. There was no ideological nonsense that was pushed in people's faces either. It was just a fun, janky game with primitive 3D graphics with 2D assets that helped boost the art style.
