Ditto. I wasn't a huge fan of the Savage Avengers thing. The main Conan books marvel put out in that time were okay, more so the Zubb issues, which is probably why they kept him on for titan.

I've always really liked "The Hour of the Dragon" and "The Devil in Iron." Xaltotun and Khosatral Khel are two of the best Conan villains. "Red Nails" is another good one; gotta love Valeria, the battle scenes, and the fight with the dragon.

Also, putting aside what my favorite it, the one I always use to get people into Conan is Tower of the Elephant, purely because it's just the perfect concise example of how different the character is than they might thing and a great taste of the WEIRD.

Tower of the Elephant always seems to be the frontrunner for premier Conan story when it's brought up. Not that I'm complaining. On top of the weirder elements making it unique I think Conan vs the spider guard is one his best fights.

I like Hour of the dragon because is a fun glove trotting adventure though many locations, my only gripes with it is that the final battle is kind of mid. Scarlet citadel at least has Conan fight the evil wizard that was behind everything.

I recognize the scene from one of the books, If I remember correctly Conan ends up of of breath after this, his monologue was more to spite the other guy. Which is something I like for all of Conan badassery he is still a man just a stronger that average one.

Wonder if he'll be any more sorcerous than he was back then? Actually, having only read some of those classic Marvel Conan issues, has he actually shown up at all since the... 80's? Early 90's? Whenever it was.

It's not just weird for it's inter-dimensional elephant man, it's also a good example of Conan's "softer" side. Conan is genuinely moved by the Elephant's plight and fate. It forms the emotional core of his motivation for the climax. Those tend to be some of the best Conan stories, when the facade cracks a bit and you get a glimpse of the strong heart beating beneath his stoney face, fueling feelings beyond merely lust and bloodlust.

He was a regular character in the animated series and was in the second movie.... sorta. But beyond that no. Honestly I'm actually a bit surprised Titan even got the rights to him at all. I like the guy, but Conan was never really famous for having a strong supporting recurring cast.
