Comics in Japan are big business, OP. Have been since the manga boom. Your health is basically fucked if you're on a weekly schedule.
>>149352037
You can appreciate an artist's work without glorifying the horrific working conditions and unhealthy habits that lead to their deaths. Working hard is good, but one mustn't work themselves to death, especially when it comes to cartooning. Ishinomori is profilic, but his lifestyle ultimately led to him dying of heart failure at 60 while many of his peers outlived him well up until the 2020s.

Because they love it and they have more freedom than ameriqiqes.
Tezuka slept 3 hours. His last words were "please, let me get back to work".
Insanely based.

That's not justification for posting about old mangaka on /co/, though. The styles of Tezuka and the artists' who have been inspired by his work throughout the 60s-70s are still /a/. You can't lie to anons and tell them the works of Fujiko Fujio are /co/. Everyone knows their work is /a/, and you know it's /a/.

But to be fair, lots of those who had crazy work schedules live pretty long, like Miyazaki

I think early deaths of manga artists are caused more by their irregular, unhealthy lifestyles than lack of sleep in general
They are rich, usually working from home at night, and being treated like rock star by publishers

For instance, Toriyama used to go out about three days a week, talk to his friends on the phone for hours every day, and spend the rest of the week without sleep completing his work

Because Japanese culture's basically just "pick a job, LIVE that job, work long shifts for the rest of your long life, don't have kids, die", and all your remaining free time is eaten up by whatever Nintendo console is out because all of Japan is made up of Nintendo/Pokemon simps, or sometimes you have a hobby that you spend an hour a day on, and that's it. Also you never date once and never have any kids.

>immortal
The printing press was invented nearly 600 years ago, and writing in clay tablets has been around for thousands of years, yet anything anything written before the 20th century is very hard to find and anything written before the 19th century might as well not exist.

It's not immortality. Even if you live hundreds or thousands of years, that's still not immortality.
