Rigging really only works when you're trying to go for a limited style on purpose.
If you try to imitate hand drawn like KotH is doing, it's an instant turn off.
It's why you rarely see people complain about Rick and Morty/Solar Opposites' animation (unless they dislike the way the characters themselves are designed). These shows know and accept they're rigged. And sometimes they do pretty good jobs on certain scenes.
