i was just talking to someone about how amazing it is, this is letting ONE GUY animate a movie, no korean slave labor required
he just drew a bajillion drawings, fed them to the computer, and then every time he's drawn two drawings that should go in order.. he can ask the computer to fill in the gaps in between
then a bit of QC and he's good.
important "hero shots" he's still doing the oldfashioned way, but less important stuff, man why not let the computer be your slave.
I can't wait

it's so goofy how rights like that work
what the fuck is the difference between a show and a movie

you know Spectacular Spider-Man was planned to sell two sets of DVDs, one with the season of episodes, and another with just four episodes on each DVD, so they wrote the show specifically in 4-episode arcs and wrote in extra interstitial material to tie them together more smoothly into 'movies'
then Sony told them 'you are not allowed to do anything you could remotely call a movie. we literally just want to sell DVDs of the same episodes, with less of em on there' because they were retarded
>>149363541
yeah but the reasons it can't be good have nothing to do with that. I'm sure it'll be "Bill n' Ted 3" tier. Fine, nice to see these guys get a sendoff, nothing world-changing.

Even I'VE stopped checking for monthly updates. It's clear the Undergrads creator can't afford to make the movie in a way that's actually presentable, and there STILL hasn't been any kind of significant fandom resurgence to get any major streamers or studios to want to acquire it.

I'm starting to think he might actually have to move on now. That, or go the comic route.

you don't think he's gonna finish? This is his _baby._ He's just taking forever because animation takes forever, and he has to do it all himself. but he's gonna do it, and it's gonna tie shit up finally.

This is an old ass show that isn't particularly relevant today and honestly wasn't even that popular back when it was airing.
It's cool that he got a show when he was so young, but it feels like he's never been able to mentally move on from that early success.
The sad thing is that even if he had a real budget and a team of people working on it, it probably wouldn't be that good. He doesn't have that, so he's cutting corners where he needs to. As admirable as it is that he's attempting to make a feature film on his own, the sad fact is that even IF the film is actually completed, it's going to be complete dogshit. Hopefully he'll at least get some sense of closure from this and will be able to move on with his life.

Seriously. I don't see where anyone is getting any interest from or how. It wasn't a good show. It was banal MTV trash. Sometimes shows get cancelled fora reason. Not everything that got the axe was a tragically cut down classic of the generation.

I think so, but it's going to be going at a snail's pace because it's just a passion project. The guy only raised enough money to make like a pitch thingy, but decided to make it all himself once no one picked it up. He somehow got the rights which is amazing. I love how he is doing it all by himself and using AI tools in a smart way to help with the process. Like he is doing it strategically, so it still has soul, but can still be made by one guy.

The show was good and did get good ratings, MTV just never made another season because they wanted another Beavis and Butt-Head. It's kind of like how Nickelodeon kicks everything to the curb for not being as big a hit as SpongeBob.

It's SpongeBob disease. MTV had it bad.

Also, it's not "MTV trash". "MTV trash" would be their shitty reality TV shows.

> it had quite a following until the mid 2000s
That's overselling it quite a bit. It had only a modest following when it was airing (which is partially why it was cancelled), and a portion of those viewers wanted closure, so they kept a candle lit for the renewal of the show. It was never a particularly large fanbase which is evidenced by not only the cancellation but the tepid response to the crowdfund campaign.

Warrior Nun (the live action show based on the comic) was a dog-shit show that had "quite a following", and when it was cancelled there were large scale campaigns to bring it back. Fans went as far as to rent a billboard across the street from Netflix Headquarters in an attempt to pressure them into renewal. I bring this up because that fan base dwarfed the fanbase and vocal support of Undergrads, and it was still an amount that was too little for any network to give a shit about.

I find it admirable that Pete is seeing this through, but the sad reality is that not a whole lot of people actually wanted this, and it's not the sort of thing that will capture a brand new audience. Pete is doing this for Pete.

kind of a big deal, dude. along with Mission Hill. Shows from 2000 had this amazing optimism because 9/11 hadn't happened yet. They could actually mock the news hype cycle. They were saying yeah maybe we're gonna relax about nudity and shit. they had no fucking idea how bad the next 25 years would be.

There is nothing more special than being an artist. It is the ultimate task of humanity once we sort everything else out. When we become perfect like our creator, all we will have to or want to do is keep creating things.
