>>149370595It was a serious mess after Whedon's Justice League massively flopped
WB decided on a drastic plan that would use Flash's Flashpoint to get rid of Affleck and Cavill, and then bringing in Michael Keaton's Batman while also intent on focusing on Sasha Calle's Supergirl and Leslie Grace's Batgirl
Meanwhile they also signed a deal with JJ Abrams to do:
a Black Superman with Ta-Nehisi Coates, which would be separate from the DCEU
Justice League Dark projects (Constantine and Madame Xanadu shows were already in the casting stage before they got canned, IIRC)
And Matt Reeves would be doing Batman films starring Robert Pattinson, set in its own world (Hamada was saying that Keaton Batman/DCEU was on Earth-1 while Pattison Batman was Earth-2)
And they got James Gunn to do a sequel to Suicide Squad which eventually led to Peacemaker TV show
Meanwhile The Rock was trying to get Black Adam off the ground.
But then COVID threw everything off track
And then Zaslav came in and drastically changed things (shelved Batgirl, canned JJ's projects)
Black Adam released and didn't do well at the box office (and some people at WB got pissed at The Rock because he went over their heads to get Henry Cavill back as Superman)
So then Zaslav decided to have James Gunn and Peter Safran handle the DC films and they opted for a reboot, but there were still projects left over that hadn't been released yet
Pre-Zaslav the ending for Flash would've been that it was Post-Snyder Snyderverse, but now Keaton's Batman was always that universe's Batman and Supergirl was the one who went through the events of Man of Steel instead of Superman
After Zaslav took over WB but before Gunn/Safran took over DC Michael de Luca and Pam Abdy's plan was Henry Cavill returning as Superman in the end of Flash while Supergirl was also still around.
Then Gunn/Safran era version of The Flash opted to go with the joke that Flash ended up merging his universe with the Clooneyverse
