I didn't like this movie nearly as much as I thought I would based off the first trailer. I feel like I want to see a version with as little dialogue as possible. I know it's based off a kids book, but so is Shrek, HTTYD, and Home and those are vastly different from the movie adaptations.

I'm not gonna lie to you, the sole reason I saw this movie was because of the female robot villain.
That said, while I do recognize this movie as a whole and consider it a competent movie- I agree 100%.

What I had EXPECTED was a cerebral work of art looking at raw, machine intelligence and its reaction to the wild world when left to the devices of nature alone.

What I got was a fable with talking animals, which was suspiciously left out of the trailer you mentioned. When I looked into it, I lost all interest then until the villain reveal but that's just because I crave the strength and certainty of steel and as an outlier should not be considered for it.

Felt like people stopped talking about The Wild Robot pretty quickly. Why is that?

>slave to the machine goes rogue and fights back for their new friends/family
Is a pretty common narrative. You can dress it up how you like, but even the slowest normie is going to pick up on it pretty quick.

internet discussion is so fast and so much content is being dumped online nowadays that if you are not an ongoing series people forget about you immediately.

I mean the book doesn’t have much dialogue either, they had to add Fink to the story specifically so there’s actually someone to talk with.
He just sort of wanders off into the background after she pulls the quills in the book

You read the book? How's it differ from the movie?

The broad strokes of the plot are actually pretty faithful, but there are lots of changes in the specifics of what happens, I guess to make a better movie narrative.
Like how the animals all get curious about her raising a duckling to the point where they’re all already friends by the winter so there’s no dramatic sequence where she befriends them by rescuing them by hand in the harsh winter, she just invites them over to stay.
Or how Brightbill just gets into a fight that has no reason to it besides “I dunno, teens are angsty sometimes” where the movie actually writes in reasons for that to happen.

Interesting, sometimes a certain order of events or a certain character motivation works best in service of a movie rather than a written work. I feel like Sanders made some good choices there
