All the kids' accents are still thick as owt up 'ere. But if it is true, how the fuck does it happen? Accents are about who you communicate WITH, subconsciously mimicking the people around you so you fit in with and are understood by them. That's why they're regional. It's not about who you listen to on TV or YouTube or whatever, because you're not talking back to those people.
