Why not just have him be Bizarro?
The "twist" was not at all surprising and there was no reason to keep everything about the character exactly the same except the design and name. It's the only choice in this movie I genuinely can't understand. I disagree with some other choices, sure, this one I don't even get why they did it

Lex did make a point to say “he’s somehow dumber than you” which leads me to believe they plan on having him go “me do opposite” in the future installments. I think they just needed a physical threat to give Clark.

I agree completely but it's very silly to me that they tried to make it a twist. Just have him be a pale, deformed Superman in a crash test summy type version of the Superman suit. Or just go all out with the purple since it's on his suit already.
The pocket dimension was filled with cubes so I'm guessing that'll eventually become Bizarro World

I think they're setting up him devolving into Bizarro for a return appearance. He's clearly a flawed clone, and the dimension he was thrown into had cubic matter implying Bizarro world. Would be cool if he returned with inverted powers

I really hope we get the Crime Syndicate. The Legion of Doom would be sweet too. We haven't really seen either concept in live-action, so this would be a chance either way to see something somewhat fresh. Though I would like to see them do the Crime Syndicate, maybe leading up to a Crisis movie, because they never seem to get their due.

On that note, I really hope they don't just introduce iconic villains, and then kill them off.

>Special raygun that makes retard clones was the thing in the 60s

>Mxy makes a copy of Superman but it's retarded and mas reverse powers because Mxy is stupid like that
>Alternate universe where everything is the opposite and Bizarro is just their Superman

This is implying Bizarro is a villain in a sequel. He'd be more of a one off fight stepping stone to a bigger issue. In a lot of versions hes just a big child that can be reasoned with. Or maybe we wont see him in a Superman movie after this, but instead falls into The Legion of Doom as Lex's bodyguard

The Legion of Doom is the #1 thing I wanna see in this universe. Would be fun as hell to see a group of villains work together. IIRC, Gunn wants the first team-up movie to be like JL: The New Frontier, so The Legion of Doom would be a good sequel to that. Also, I haven't gotten around to watching Creature Commandos yet, but I heard Circe gets thrown into Belle Reve too so I can already see some pieces forming since Lex also got sent there at the end. Maybe have Captain Cold and The Rogues fight Flash in his solo movie. That, plus we're getting Sinestro in that Lanterns show and we're getting a Clayface movie. Those 5 are already matchups for the main 5 League members (though, I'd swap Clayface out with a different Batman villain). Add in some other characters like Bizarro, Cheetah, Scarecrow, and the Legion will look nice.

Posted this in another thread but you can read this both ways. Both are possible. For example Luthor is stated to work in high level science projects with chaotic possibilities. In addition to that Luthor writes off information that doesn't match his goals. Also, Luthor states that Ultraman is slow and too stupid to function without his direction, going so fare as to tell Ultraman how to fight, but part way through the movie we seen Ultraman making decisions and by the end of the movie he is fighting Superman even though Luthor can no longer command him. Using these scenes you could argue that he is developing Bizarro level of intelligence and the black hole will change his physical appearance. But you could also argue that due to Luthor's obsession to destory and pettiness towards Superman is blinding him to Ultraman's development. Luthor is right that he is slow but maybe he's not the type of "slow" he thinks he is. His mind is trying to catch up with his body. So what you have is a Ultraman that is similar to the comics because not as smart as Superman and prone to emotional outburst which is explained because he has the mind of a mean child.

He was Bizarro. He was called Ultraman because Lex was marketing him as a replacement for Superman so naturally he'd have a name that sounds "better" than Superman. The twist is really only for the characters and a few normies, remember that Bizarro isn't exactly the most well known character

he's like Doomsday in that the origin is often different and usually modified to fit the continuity it's in, but he's usually either A) a Superman from another dimension where everything is reversed, or B) a failed/unfinished clone who deteriorates and gets worse over time.

the Superman & Lois show is interesting in that regard, because in it Lex creates Doomsday out of Bizarro. he has a sad story in that show.

You know, that's a good point. They got their physical threat in without taking anything from Luthor. This was a smart move.

I hope the sequel gives us Bizarro proper but still does unexpected things in terms of bad guys. Brainiac would be amazing but it'd be cool if they threw another wrench in there, just to keep things interesting.
