What's the name of that cliche where when someone opens a door to a small space and someone is implausibly inside of it?

Like looking into a top hat and getting punched in the face by an arm coming out of it.
Or opening a pack of cigarettes only for one of them to have a very serious looking face before the person who opened the pack gets tossed.
Or opening a refrigerator only for something huge to reach out of it and pull you in.

It's different from just slapstick comedy because the person inside of the small space needs to be comically serious in spite of the ridiculous situation.

I feel like it's something you might have seen more of in manga from the 80s as well as older cartoons.

I'm thinking about how Crackdown actually fights using his spacial diving trick, and it's just hilarious the more I think about it with how silly is and how serious he is.

Ok done officially did the concept honest, mostly got inspired by that one hey arnold ep which is a fave of mine. But I split stinky personality into Nellie and pa mostly cause I didn't want it to be longer than about 4 post. But had fun, love how cringe I made the dad idk just like idea of a well meaning southern pa who just also loves money and things because he probably never had it. Meant to add a bit more heart to him and nellie interaction but was too lazy. Hope enjoyed now gonna do a suggestive/lewd concept next.

For a while I've been of an opinion that his body being entropy-resistant would only reflect on his durability, but lately I've been thinking about how much of physical limitation comes *exactly* from the fact that human muscle has a certain tensile strength limit that Arthur should realistically be able to overcome.

Now see, this is something I actually addressed awhile ago in the form of Arthur using his ability to "deep tissue" train his muscle and bone, it's mentioned in his wiki page.
What I'm talking about is the fact that his body's actual physical properties (or I suppose it would be more fitting to say "function", since biologically he's still 100% human) might be abnormal. Logic dictates that if his muscle doesn't tear as easily because his body literally bends thermodynamics to its benefit, then it should be stronger than regular human muscle, right?
I'm not overthinking this, am I?

Do you want him to have low-tier super strength? If yes, then you already have a path set up for him to go beyond regular human limitations since he does not need to worry about damaging his muscles while strengthening them.

Also consider what "low tier super strength" entails.
One could argue that those huge guys in real life who can pull a bus using a rope they are holding in their teeth have "low" tier super strength.

As long as whatever rules you've established for how the character's powers work remain consistent, I think it's fine.

If I go with what I know about him and how I think he's powers work, then I think if Arthur got hit by something super lethal like that, if he was touching something with enough mass, he could transfer all of the destruction to it. Like if he's being crushed then before his body goes, everything around him would have to go first, like the damage done to him just leaks out of him and cracks everything he's in contact with.

If you get him in a place where he's not able to transfer the damage to anything else (like if he's been launched up into the air and then shot at), then there's better odds of beating him.

The best way to really finding the upper limits of what you think a character should or should not able able to do has always been putting them in all kinds of situations and seeing if its feasible for narrative purposes if their powers should be allowed to work that way, then remain consistent going forward from there.
Or at least that's what works for me.
Each new story should update the "notes" on what the character can and cannot do.

Page 13 of the Cracked Hammer script lines up nicely with where a break would go, either where part 1 ends or where a commercial break would go. A lot of the scripts I write in this project seem to have them.

So I'm into the scene now where Arthur is in the stands watching the team practice that Brad and Jack are a part of. I'm trying to figure out what sort of hyper negative thoughts he's having about these jocks.
Like "Look at them all, with their bright futures. Friends, respect, and still turning to crime. Why? What's the point of that? You actually have a future ahead of you. Why throw it all away?"
Most of what I'm coming up with feels a bit to generalized for him. Is there anything specifically he would hyper fixate on to hate about them?

I've felt that if anyone ever did an "ultimate" take on DC or Marvel they would need to start at WWII and go from there with world history and events being different accordingly. Crackdown is in Brad's room looking for the stolen Bloom tube and I need some way for Jack to actually see who is in the other room without being noticed. He knows someone is in there who shouldn't be, but he needs to see it's a masked weirdo to give him the push to put on his own super suit to confront him.
It's such a minor thing, but it just throws of my flow like you wouldn't believe.

>Frank Castle dubiously holds the title of "Baddest motherfucker alive." He used to be a special ops soldier, one of the best despite his young age, but he went AWOL when something happened. We're not sure what it was that drove him to do what he did, but it couldn't have been pretty. All we know is that he's got something against PMCs now.
>Street criminals and organized crime? That shit is too low, a symptom rather than the sickness itself. PMCs, government/corporate conspiracies, and other high-rising far-reaching stuff like that? Yeah, that's what he's after. The skull motif is a lot more subtle, with the way his full-face balaclava (Yes he wears one of those) and goggles go together making it sort of look like he has a skull for a face under certain lighting, along with how he has a badge with a skull on it. The rest is pretty basic combat hardware like a bulletproof vest, gloves, and thick sleeves.
>Since he's not fighting petty criminals but is instead going up against actual highly trained soldiers who have the best of the best equipment, his approach is different. Think less Terminator and a little more FEAR's Point Man or Trepang2's Subject 106. He moves at blinding speeds in close quarters, constantly strafing and darting between the shadows and cover. He is never standing in one place and is constantly on the move while laying on heavy fire with a level of speed and coordination that his enemies cannot seem to keep up with. His war isn't on crime, it's on the PMCs that destabilize nations, leading to crime as a side effect. His goal is to cut off the arms of the war economy specifically.
TLDR Punisher goes against war criminals and mercenaries instead of pettier crime, and his borderline unstoppable nature doesn't come from his arsenal but rather comes from his tactical acumen and mobility/reflexes

OK, the draft version of JackHammer VS Crackdown is done. It ended up being scripted at 26 pages with a natural break after page 13. I didn't plan for it, but it worked out that way.
