>It works like a community toy chest. In the /coc/ threads you are free to post whatever ideas/settings/characters you want, but you have to be OK with other people playing with them (tweaking them, putting them in stories, using them for things, etc.)
>There's no guarantee that what you post will catch on either.
>If the OC you are posting is YOURS for something you are personally doing, then it would go to the "How is your webcomic?" threads.

Hello again, /coc/!
i came here early this week to reply to the last thread's questions
>>149370046>But anyway, so the sparring matches have a rule against using powers, right? I'm not misremembering that?yes you are right, they can't use their powers and have to only relay on their combat skills, well except for Aya since she has robotic arms
>>149371308>Heh, nellie gonna get her own side story. The Nellie side lol.i mean if she became really popular she might actually get her own spin-off
kinda like The Cleveland show
>My name is Nellie , and I'm proud to be>A daughter o' the holler, wild and free!>Left my mama's shack, with no shoe,>Gonna find my own way, somethin' shiny an' new!kek
>mostly my headcanon of nellie is. She's the strong sis, a bit like clay from xaolin showdown. She's the ego to Billie's Id, I assumed billie is the more irresponsibly one going off on adventures and causing troubles.i mean it can work if you ask me and we can play on the fact that she kinda envies Billie for having her mud powers since Billie relies on them most of the time (she loves her sister, don't get me wrong)

Nice "The secret life of Nellie", but really feel I might have overstepped with her. Almost feel like need to just take my design and make her own oc before I ruin poor nellie kek.
>Also peak, nellie is like ronnie anne gets her own spin off before the main show even gets truly started.Hehe so like "Hamster and gretal" but really could be fun. An kind of was my idea irresponsible one gets powers diligent or more responsible one doesn't. Though like idea of her being "country strong" hehe idk way you drew her made her arms and legs look a tad thicker than billie's and her body more solid.a and the tan makes her look like she is outdoors more but since both tomboys think oh she works the fields while billie plays in mud more.
Ha meant horny anon, but sure I was waiting to post cause it was like 10pm on sat. I'll post soon. Both suggestive and ep/concept idea

What's the name of that cliche where when someone opens a door to a small space and someone is implausibly inside of it?
Like looking into a top hat and getting punched in the face by an arm coming out of it.
Or opening a pack of cigarettes only for one of them to have a very serious looking face before the person who opened the pack gets tossed.
Or opening a refrigerator only for something huge to reach out of it and pull you in.
It's different from just slapstick comedy because the person inside of the small space needs to be comically serious in spite of the ridiculous situation.
I feel like it's something you might have seen more of in manga from the 80s as well as older cartoons.
I'm thinking about how Crackdown actually fights using his spacial diving trick, and it's just hilarious the more I think about it with how silly is and how serious he is.

Hehe hey she deserves it also i mean they did do the cute nellie art a while back as well. Also bangs are cute
I just want to mention something that I just thought would be funny, IIRC we don't know if in IHF Happy's real name is Happy or if that is just a nickname (her real name could be Helga for all I know) and the fanwork version's real is is Happy, but I think it would be funny if Happy's mom Gert named her Larrigon Wentsworth IV either as a joke or as a genuine tribute to her friend Larry.

I think that's the lot!
>>149384218With Mumbo Jumbo's hat world, yes. Another one of the situations I was referencing.
I'm trying to think of what it's called, if it even has a name.
Kind of also like the VCR in Regular Show when it flips open showing a pair of eyes, and then a gun starts coming out of where the tape should go.
I have this idea that when someone opens up a briefcase to put some stolen goods in it, Crackdown pops out of it like a Jack-in-the-box to uppercut them.

What's the story with her?A pretty general concept so far, she's a robot or possibly a transforming vehicular weapons platform who can adopt various different forms based on past Presidents, ex. a plasma axe based on Washington, or a tall hat and cannon array called the "log cabin" based on Lincoln, or an extra-thickly armored form based on Taft. >>149388853>>149391991It is so bad right now they won't even hire you to stock selves without "prior experience". I am not making that up.
>>149399690I'm glad you like them. I'm about to get started converting my notes into script. I just need to get a few more details on-hand before I get started like what Derek and Paulie look like (I'll need to cross check with Crackdown #0 again) as well as...
>>149396418So what does the crack dimension look like when Arthur is inside of it? I don't remember if you ever drew or described what it looks like when he's in there.
Also, now I'm thinking about that time in Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy where Ed shoves himself through a hole in a fence. So that's my mental image for what it looks like now.
Oh, that was an easy gif to find for once.
>>149401571Probably a different coc character. Like sharkLass would cool.
So the Crackdown #0 script doesn't appear to give Paulie a physical description beyond "20s".
OK, my mental stand-in for him is going to be Luck Gandor then.
>>149402176Exactly it's bs and hellish, and then older people just say "oh your gen just doesn't want to work" but you try to explain dude we are trying our damnedest. But either way again wish you luck boyo, really need my new role about to get fired kek. An would prefer to not be jobless
>>149402915Oh my god I know, I've heard that so many times already. It's like trying to catch fish with a reel that is a solid rusted mass that's never going to move while an old person yells at you that you're doing it wrong and yells even louder at you if you try to fix the damn reel.
I want to scream every time I'm given another "back in my day" speech.
Anyway, progress is a little slow on the script. I'm currently writing page three of it now.
>>149402176>so what does the crack dimension look like when Arthur is inside of it? Like literally nothing. It is a place of complete and utter absence and the reason why it is so lethal for beings other than Arthur is because their sensory input can't handle that.
Hey if any artist is interested can there be something to spice up the thread? Something sexual that isn’t ladybug or golden gal?

Just walk in with a resume and you had a high chance at getting a job for life as long as you just coast and did the bare minimum lol. But now it's 2 rounds of interview to work at a retail store.
But good luck on the hunt and the script boyo, sometimes we need stuff like that to help us stay sane

Would it be a stretch to suggest that Crackdown either has low-superhuman strength or develops it over time?
For a while I've been of an opinion that his body being entropy-resistant would only reflect on his durability, but lately I've been thinking about how much of physical limitation comes *exactly* from the fact that human muscle has a certain tensile strength limit that Arthur should realistically be able to overcome.
>>149422921Of the show or of the threads we used to have for it?
>>149422940If you think about it, muscles grow because they get worked to the point of tearing a little, then heal back better.
What is a tear if not another form of a crack?
>>149423049>if you think about it, muscles grow because they get worked to the point of tearing a little, then heal back betterNow see, this is something I actually addressed awhile ago in the form of Arthur using his ability to "deep tissue" train his muscle and bone, it's mentioned in his wiki page.
What I'm talking about is the fact that his body's actual physical properties (or I suppose it would be more fitting to say "function", since biologically he's still 100% human) might be abnormal. Logic dictates that if his muscle doesn't tear as easily because his body literally bends thermodynamics to its benefit, then it should be stronger than regular human muscle, right?
I'm not overthinking this, am I?
>>149422940It's not the silliest explanation for auxiliary powers I've ever seen.
>>149423263I think you should alter your approach.
Do you want him to have low-tier super strength? If yes, then you already have a path set up for him to go beyond regular human limitations since he does not need to worry about damaging his muscles while strengthening them.
Also consider what "low tier super strength" entails.
One could argue that those huge guys in real life who can pull a bus using a rope they are holding in their teeth have "low" tier super strength.
As long as whatever rules you've established for how the character's powers work remain consistent, I think it's fine.
>>149423373In a way, I feel like something like that could be useful to establish beforehand if the stories I decide to write in the future gonna to be so outlandish with action (there's a non-zero chance of that happening) that it would make more sense to just come out and say "yeah, he has superhuman physique" instead of hiding behind "peak human" cope.
God knows how much /co/ hates whenever characters do or survive some real bullshit purely because of how jacked or good at martial arts they are.
>>149423578If I go with what I know about him and how I think he's powers work, then I think if Arthur got hit by something super lethal like that, if he was touching something with enough mass, he could transfer all of the destruction to it. Like if he's being crushed then before his body goes, everything around him would have to go first, like the damage done to him just leaks out of him and cracks everything he's in contact with.
If you get him in a place where he's not able to transfer the damage to anything else (like if he's been launched up into the air and then shot at), then there's better odds of beating him.
The best way to really finding the upper limits of what you think a character should or should not able able to do has always been putting them in all kinds of situations and seeing if its feasible for narrative purposes if their powers should be allowed to work that way, then remain consistent going forward from there.
Or at least that's what works for me.
Each new story should update the "notes" on what the character can and cannot do.
>>149421903Alright, here's what I've managed to make 'till now. Since it's the middle of the week, and I'm to experiment more, it's very likely this will take a long time to finish.

>>149425687>>149425786Sometimes you have to remember how wild a thing the internet is.
>>149426204We international!
Page 13 of the Cracked Hammer script lines up nicely with where a break would go, either where part 1 ends or where a commercial break would go. A lot of the scripts I write in this project seem to have them.
So I'm into the scene now where Arthur is in the stands watching the team practice that Brad and Jack are a part of. I'm trying to figure out what sort of hyper negative thoughts he's having about these jocks.
Like "Look at them all, with their bright futures. Friends, respect, and still turning to crime. Why? What's the point of that? You actually have a future ahead of you. Why throw it all away?"
Most of what I'm coming up with feels a bit to generalized for him. Is there anything specifically he would hyper fixate on to hate about them?
I know this was described as the bullshit made up all-in-his-head alpha vs beta nonsense, but I'm not well versed in that type of rhetoric.

I'm doing my own take on an "Ultimate" Marvel
>>149440284You've mentioned this before, yes.
Did you figure out a beginning or are you just starting with the modern age?
I've felt that if anyone ever did an "ultimate" take on DC or Marvel they would need to start at WWII and go from there with world history and events being different accordingly. Capes, alien, sea folk, other dimensions, there's so much more important bullshit any government would need to dedicate their resources to than just the cold war.
You know what really sucks? The "peer through the keyhole" thing doesn't work anymore. That was phased out maybe 30 or 40 years ago at least.
I'm at a point where the sequence of events is that Jack is in a joining hotel room with a door that connects his to Brad's. Crackdown is in Brad's room looking for the stolen Bloom tube and I need some way for Jack to actually see who is in the other room without being noticed. He knows someone is in there who shouldn't be, but he needs to see it's a masked weirdo to give him the push to put on his own super suit to confront him.
It's such a minor thing, but it just throws of my flow like you wouldn't believe.
What does it mean to reimagine something?
>>149440451It usually means to retell a story with prior knowledge of all of the twists and turns, culling the shit that doesn't work and seeding in actual foreshadowing for important parts that happen later.
It also often means you are attempting to make the characters more consistent or for their character development to actually be meaningful over the course of the character's history.
Or it means you gut the idea, boil it down to its base components, repackage it, then tell the origin story in movie format a dozen times.

>>149440655For example

>>149440721Anything built within the last 30 years likely wouldn't since key cards have been the norm in hotels for a long time. For now I'm just going to have him open the door after making it super not-dense so he can do it silently. I may want to change it later, but it's better to move on to the parts I'm more confident about right now.
I'm finally getting into the confrontation between the two.
>>149440734>>149440655I also just finished up my Ghost Rider idea.

I'm at the climax now with the hammer head to the chest blow. Looks like that's page 22 of this draft.
It's been kind of rough writing tonight. I know what I want to write, how I want the scenes to go, but my focus is shot.

>Peter retired from being Spiderman for nearly a decade after Venom killed Aunt May (On his 18th birthday no less) and recorded a snuff film of him doing it. Peter killed Venom and the trauma of the whole ordeal lead to him hanging up his webs.>Actually builds a life for himself with MJ. Has two kids now. He's a young father who has insecurities but a family who loves him >Heads back into the fray as a superhero when his kids elementary school gets attacked by some Z-lister and Mayday almost dies. This near-loss basically snaps him out of his deep-seated fears. Also this costume evolution I did. I personally like the idea of him slowly getting better with the web pattern in terms of sewing.
>>149454078Also if you must know, Spider-Man is one of my less drastic re-imaginings.
Hulk, Iron Man, and the X-Men are a bit more extreme in terms of how far they deviate

>Frank Castle dubiously holds the title of "Baddest motherfucker alive." He used to be a special ops soldier, one of the best despite his young age, but he went AWOL when something happened. We're not sure what it was that drove him to do what he did, but it couldn't have been pretty. All we know is that he's got something against PMCs now.>Street criminals and organized crime? That shit is too low, a symptom rather than the sickness itself. PMCs, government/corporate conspiracies, and other high-rising far-reaching stuff like that? Yeah, that's what he's after. The skull motif is a lot more subtle, with the way his full-face balaclava (Yes he wears one of those) and goggles go together making it sort of look like he has a skull for a face under certain lighting, along with how he has a badge with a skull on it. The rest is pretty basic combat hardware like a bulletproof vest, gloves, and thick sleeves.>Since he's not fighting petty criminals but is instead going up against actual highly trained soldiers who have the best of the best equipment, his approach is different. Think less Terminator and a little more FEAR's Point Man or Trepang2's Subject 106. He moves at blinding speeds in close quarters, constantly strafing and darting between the shadows and cover. He is never standing in one place and is constantly on the move while laying on heavy fire with a level of speed and coordination that his enemies cannot seem to keep up with. His war isn't on crime, it's on the PMCs that destabilize nations, leading to crime as a side effect. His goal is to cut off the arms of the war economy specifically.TLDR Punisher goes against war criminals and mercenaries instead of pettier crime, and his borderline unstoppable nature doesn't come from his arsenal but rather comes from his tactical acumen and mobility/reflexes
I don't see these as improvements, just re-interpretations.
OK, the draft version of JackHammer VS Crackdown is done. It ended up being scripted at 26 pages with a natural break after page 13. I didn't plan for it, but it worked out that way.
I'm calling it "Cracked Hammer". It's JackHammer #6 and Crackdown #?.

Right now I'm calling this a draft because I'd like Crackdown anon to go over it
>>149404851See if there's anything egregiously out of character for Arthur in this. Give me suggestions for changes and we'll make it happen.
I think I ended up favoring Crackdown's screen time too much. Not the even split I wanted, but this is how it unfolded in my mind.
How many years ago was this crossover first suggested?
I'm going to bed now.

He can't let someone with zero discipline inherit any of this.>He did learn said discipline, but at the same time it fucking awoke something in him. Not some spiritual power, no, but this borderline psychotic desire to fight.>It eventually gets too hard to hold back and he maims his sifu.>Now every fucking Chinese martial arts school wants a piece of him.>And he can't stop fighting.
