Marvel really wants to bury the negative reception to OMD. They don't want to back down on it because they think they're in the right, but they also don't want to hear about people shitting on them for it. On other forums they probably get some shills praising modern Spider-Man, maybe have Slott bully users into submission, stomp them into the ground with what imaginary authority he has.
And, well, people here are generally less timid (for better or worse) and much harder to bully like that. I mean, we learned that Christopher Priest browsed /co/, allegedly got called a nigger and we fucking laughed about it, some kind of "I work for Marvel/DC" authority generally means nothing to people here.
So instead they likely get some interns (probably unpaid) to play mentally ill retards. If all you get is mentally ill noise, you drown out legitimate complaints. I wouldn't be surprised if the mod team is also on the take considering how they ignore those cancerous rule-breaking assholes.
And before you say "well, Marvel probably has " this is the supposedly adult people who pick childish fights on xitter and are fucking over characters out of spite despite it costing them money. It's the exact kind of stupid petty shit I'd expect from them.

Honestly, I'd been thinking this exact thing as far back as Wells' run. The Wells ASM threads went into post limit, but discussion is basically inane roleplay type shit. The only reason for that would be to make it look like there's discussion by saying to higher-ups, "there's 500 posts so obviously people are talking about ASM!" and hope that Disney or whoever don't take a look at the thread. Otherwise they may as well have done it in an all-new thread.

The irony though is that in spite of doing this the responses against OMD kept escalating. Sales on Wells' run were so bad that even retailers were starting to take note of it, in spite of it being high on the ICV2 chart. And Brevoort constantly responding to questions about the Spider-Marriage/OMD despite him supposedly having nothing to do with Spider-Man comics (which probably isn't true) or people getting extra-defensive about defending the recent Joe Kelly run leads me to think that the Thinking Critical guy was right that ASM is getting below 50,000 orders and Marvel's trying to pull out all the stops
