TPOT's earlier episodes were boring because of favoritism and repetitive episode formulas, where most of the screen time went to particular teams (Death Pact) every episode then at the very end of the episode something random happens which decides who goes home. It's actually funny that the better episodes are typically the ones where you know who lost before the results happen, because they're competently written around the events that caused their team's loss instead of a shallow fake suspense.
Some teams continued to stay safe despite doing nothing - Team8s doing the challenge incorrectly, disappearing for half the episode then out of nowhere winning was practically a running gag and so it's really not a surprise that everyone but Donut immediately got booted come the merge since none of them had any time to develop. Just Not was Just Pillow. Even if it made the episodes predictable, they really would have benefitted from focusing on whichever team loses the current episode because so many early episodes just came down to that random thing happening at the end which meant one team where half the members did nothing all episode is UFE and made people go "Uhh this one's out I guess oh well". Death Pact was so popular as a team because they (usually) got focus during their eliminations and thus it was eventful when one of them did go, and their arcs still persist into current episodes. They're one of the only teams across all of BFDI to actually have a dynamic.
TPOT's problem wasn't nothing happening, it was that the exact same things kept happening. TPOT's problem is still that, as this One garbage is so fucking repetitive and melodramatic and challenges still tend to conclude with "last second bullshit fuck you team who was actually doing the challenge for most of the episode"

Disventure Crap started out as a decent project, however, the Fanbase was growing strong on the fujo side where everyone gave more importance to the gay shit over the show as a whole.
