Deviantart-tier character designs claiming to be "adult" despite having writing that's more juvenile and badly written than most kid shows. This artists' approach to design and characters is wildly generic and by the book, her work doesn't stand out from the crowd as a result and she seems blissfully unaware of this reality.

The chick here ignores how action line, a unique shape language, asymmetry, colour, expressiveness and flow are core to the appeal of Viv's designs and it was genuinely annoying to see her talk from a position of authority without explaining in better detail that particular aspect of these characters. Then to see her 'improved' designs largely miss the point of that appeal too. Viv's characters attract a lot of attention for specific reasons beyond 'tumblr sexymen hurr durr', they're generally pretty thin and 'spindly' looking for a reason.

Sure, Lackadaisy also opened up doors by raising such high funds for their first season, and Glitch really opened doors by creating new financial models and potential partnerships for independent creators, but HH/HB were early examples of indie funded productions of that "studio grade" scale, and her partnership with A24 showed that the DIY approach could be a viable tactic for entering the mainstream.
