Slott forgot your yellow fever character needs more than just sex appeal to have staying power.

Silk was literally never popular as a character. She has a good visual design and people like the costume but she has never took off beyond a few people on twitter reading a wiki, seeing there's an asian woman spider-man and thinking that was cool but never buying a single silk book ever.

The comma is not necessary. "Literally created for sex" is not a non-defining relative clause since it is a relevant description of Silk.
Creators? It was Slott. Slott wrote that issue. Everybody else chose to ignore it. Most fans of Silk, in fact, choose to ignore everything Slott wrote.

"These" comic book companies? Shouldn't it be "this comic book company"? I can't recall any DC or Dark Horse character made in similar circumstances to Silk.

In the mid 1990s, right around the time Force Works was ending, (and Heroes Reborn aborted plans to relaunch the team as an actual Avengers book) there was somehow a plan to bring back Jessica as Spider-Woman. Bendis was attached, even back then, though the book never got made.

Then John Byrne introduced TWO new Spider-Women, the teenaged one and an evil one, with Julia getting injured and put in a wheelchair to get her out of the way. Then in the 2000s, Bendis got to bring Jessica back, and rebranding Julia as 'Arachne' still wasn't enough, the Spider-Man office grabbed her and turned her into the new Madame Web.

Sometimes a successful, popular legacy character can get screwed over by a star writer wanting to replace them with his own new legacy character, sometimes they can get screwed over by a fans of the original version wanting them back, and wanting to wreck the legacy because Not Muh. Julia somehow had both of these things happen to her.

Honestly if Marvel really wanted Peter to move on from MJ him hooking up with Silk would have been actually acceptable cause at least it's something and her having a good design with powers helps.
Making her her own character is stupid. Like maybe in a decade she could headline a comic but right now she's just a shit version of Spider-Man no one cares about. Use her relationship with Peter to flesh her out and make her popular. With enough time she'd be seen as Peter girlfriend he goes on adventures with not just "Spider Glubshitto #17".

The way Silk's chest was drawn by this artist was one of the lewdest things I'd seen in awhile. As much as people complain about balloon tits or boob socks (though this probably qualifies for that too), the way Silk's were drawn is just blatantly looking at naked boobs then coloring over them. I don't have it handy, but it's infinitely "worse" in a panel where she's leaning back and her breasts slightly droop down the sides of her chest.

Way more lewd and vulgar than your classic balloon tits.
