I had a teacher like this in middle schooI. I could tell she was always stressed, but most teachers are, or at least play it up that way. She always encouraged me, though. I was her weird little outcast student, and she could tell people picked on me, and she really supported my individuality at a time in my life when I needed it.
Turns out, she was the victim of a pretty big slander case (in my podunk town, anyway) when a good chunk of the administration accused her of only getting her job because her husband was recently hired as a principal in the same school system. Most of the time I knew her, she was fighitng off lawsuits, and I think it resulted in her separating from her husband and moving across the country with her daughter. I found her obituary in 2013—she died long before her time, hopefully of nothing tragically preventable.
