>>149412287>>149412210 (OP)The problem with Supergirl is ultimately a problem rooted in Superman when it comes towards the creative direction of the character. If it is an adaptation for TV or film, Superman should be one of two things:
>an emotionally mature character (KM Weiland defines this as the Flat Arc) who develops slightly, but spends his time in the story as a teacher and role model and a leader. The classic hero: think Jonathan Joestar, Optimus Prime, Doc Savage, Jesus Christ. He is not the emotional center, and may not even be the main POV. Lois Lane or Jimmy Olson or Kara would be.>an emotionally immature character (Positive Change Arc) who must unlearn false beliefs and outgrow flawed perspectives. Superman is youthful and prone to error due to lacking emotional control. He would have more in common with the disciples than Jesus. Superman and Lois (or a different love interest) are the emotional center and main POV of the story.Adaptations try to have it both ways where Superman is both Christ and Apostle which means it leaves little room for his supporting cast and Super-Family. Kara can be sweet and virtuous, but she would need to be the second Hero and effectively be a second main character next to Clark should we go with the first option, and whether or not she needs to learn lessons and unlearn others is up to the creator.
