Last time the team fought off against Sinister and brought home Lockheed (who was for some reason kidnapped by him), and Axo finally met Sophie during the Hellfire Vigil. This time around, we begin a 3-parter where Ewing decides to revisit Ironheart again after writing her short-lived solo and Champions.

Last issue, Wade teamed up with Maverick and began planning on how to stop Apocalypse (who is in Stryfe's body (Strypocalypse? Stryfecalypse?)). Meanwhile, Logan (infected with Legacy 2.0) raided a SHIELD bunker and finally retrieved the item that will help Apocalypse to continue with his endgame: Stryfe's helmet!

One thing that really makes me wonder is how every Ms Marvel character is somehow tied to X-Men

Proto-Ms Marvel - Jean Grey, aka Marvel Girl. Not quite Ms Marvel, but if not for Carol and Phoenix thing, who knows if she wouldn't become Ms Marvel or Marvel Woman, just like Sue Richards because Invisible Woman instead of Girl.

Original Ms Marvel (Carol Danvers) - written by Claremont for a time, and introduced Deathbird, Mystique, had Rogue steal her powers, and fight Sabretooth. Became Binary and joined the Starjammers. Then big fucking nothing, a stint in Avengers, and again becomes connected to X-Men due to Kelly Thompson (Rogue fangirl) taking over writing duties - basically every issue featured some X-Men character, or a character from X-Men lore.

Second Ms Marvel (aka Photon / Spectrum) - Monica Rambeau. This one didn't have much to do with X-Men (except Nextwave), for like forever, until some writer decided to hint that she might have been actually a mutant all this time - hopefully, they won't follow it, albeit the MCU also hints a little about it as well.

Final Ms Marvel - Kamala Khan, introduced as Inhuman during the dark age of Fox-Men, member of almost every Marvel team, currently retconned into a mutant, and joined the X-Men. Something of a female Miles Morales, only unlike Miles, actually liked by some, even if she peaked during her first volume and never recovered afterwards

Still, what it is about the Ms Marvel mantle that it always eventually gets connected to the X-men world?

I think if it was just a Ms. Marvel book/mini focused on Kamala learning more about the X-men's history as she time traveled to key moments while also stopping a threat that's trying to change history like Legion instead of making a Giant X-men series advertising how Kamala was gonna be retconned as a major X-men character for these key events, then the reception would be better. As it is, id say the Dark Phoenix issue is what really deflated all of this, the Krakoa one you could get away with that the changes Kamala did wouldn't cause that much discrepancy but not only has there been even more changes that'd be hard to reconcile without just admitting that these changes wont actually have an effect in the present time, having Kamala's mutant powers be strong enough to contain the Phoenix force have put off even more people from this series.

AoX-man was about reintroducing the readers to the real Jean Grey, who just came back to life and her dynamic with the rest of the team in a story without Wolverine and Cyclops, but Nature Girl was promoted from background character to c-lister who get featured regularly to this day.

There was also Ages of Apocalypse in 2000, following directly on from Apocalypse: The Twelve in 1999, where Apocalypse tries to recreate reality in his image, and we get several different iterations of AUs over 5 issues.

That's not entirely true, most of them are sold as big events, not filler arcs, and coasting off the popularity of the original event. And keep in mind Blink's popularity boost wasn't something Marvel tried to capitalize on until years later. IIRC Pixie had already been in Fraction's UXM before Age of X, and Jean had been back for a year in X-Men Red before Age of X-Man, and her role in that event was just Marvel trolling readers.

The Darkforce/Lightforce duality stuff has some connections to everything from Chthon and the Darkhold, vampires and ancient Atlantis, Blade, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and so on. Because Waid used his History of the Marvel Universe mini to pitch the idea of Tony and Emma getting married, someone at Marvel really liked it, then Duggan was writing X-Men and Iron Man at the same time and went all-in on it, and enough people liked it for Marvel to revisit it during this event, but you're here misinterpreting it all as "Iron Man has failed as a character so hard that Marvel have turned him into an X-Men supporting character" because that fits your headcanon and view of Marvel.
