All the corruption shit should've been saved for another show, probably one featuring Zilean or Ryze so time travel could fit in. Do I think that Season 2 was a downgrade from Season 1? Absolutely. Do I think it needs a case study for how terrible/bad/divisive it is? Not really - I think there's plenty of cases where the second season just didn't live up to the first. I think it just hurts more with Arcane as Season 1 was so good. Season 2 as well isn't what I would call the worst - its just okay.

My complaints rest largely with Season 2 being rushed through to all hell. They crammed so much stuff into it that really needed more time given to it. The storyline also turning into "everyone unite and fight Evil Jesus and the Warrior Queen" felt like a weird ending for something building up towards a civil war between Zaun and Piltover and the more complicated politics of that.

I enjoyed it regardless but it felt like a missed opportunity for something that could've been fleshed out better with 3 seasons.

The thing that bothers me the most is how Riot was clear that Arcane was going to be the new canon for their setting right, but problems arise since the show made Hextech out to be this evil corrupting magitech and presumably is banned and no longer available once Jayce and Viktor die together.
This of course cause issues with the several champions that rely on Hextech as part of their origins, like Camille and Blitzcrank, so their own lore is even more mixed up.

Are they making a family drama of a broken family trying to "go back to how things used to be" or are they doing some eldritch jesus is trying to assimilate the world? Or is it about two cities at war with each other and eventually learning how to put aside their differences because at the end they're all human? During all of this we have random bullshit with Powder 2.0, Sevika, Mel's mcguffin origin story, the fireflies and heimer just kinda existing but not really and all of this just going fucking nowhere. It's not even a half baked loaf, it's just raw dough.

They changed the writing staff completely and the show went from being an almost perfect story about class warfare with some magic elements to a bunch of magic bullshit with some class warfare elements. Which it should have probably been from the start, but no one would have liked it half as much if that were they case.

Also, bringing back Zander completely shit on one of the most important emotional beats of the first season. Again, I know why they did it, but it's still total bullshit.

S1 Korra's ending was a total Deus Ex Machina with how Aang just appeared out of nowhere to give Korra her ending back. Ambessa's story got handled like crap but it was actually the FULL story. We actually had just enough context on her motivations to know where she's coming from. The only problem I have was that there was like a 2 minute montage missing showing the time lapse of how Piltover's oppression escalated under her manipulation. That would have helped make the jump between Act 1 and 2 a lot less abrupt since it's supposed to be months and you just never get that feel. The riots that happen are also something that is supposed to happen over weeks or months but again there's no context given on this time frame so again it just feels kinda random. The whole two cities at war shit was basically not even there but at the same time it was a heck of a lot more interesting than the shitty drama that ended up replacing it
