That has been true for years no though. 2009 was last year when /co/ had majority of comic readers. Pretty much whole 2010s on this board cartoons ruled the place.

Not long ago I posted a thread with over 70 new european shows being pitched right now, all fresh. I was hoping it would give them some much needed hype and start a discussion over their potential, but it barely got any replies. Of the few people that did reply it was clear someone kept necroing the thread because they probably felt the same way I did.

Nothing will change in this board as long as the only cartoons being looked at are mainstream california slop, the only discussions being held are around gooner bait, and the few actual animators with real insight who visit are too shy to promote their stuff in fear of being associated with 4chan and hunted for sport.
I don't know what the solution is, but it's really not that there's no content, but instead that the average visitor here just doesn't care about anything outside their bubble.

Biggest exception being Glitch, who are Australian and give chances to obscure creators to make something like the Gaslight District, for which they have my respect.

Even ignoring Helluva Boss, you can't tell me something like I Don't Wanna Be a Magical Girl doesn't feel like the exact same mainstream formula and style, with all the same old writing faults and over-explanations as a studio property would have. With the caveat being that it has a few extremely jarring swears thrown in, despite everything else pointing to it being extremely kid-friendly and PG.

I blame how cartoons in the west are failing and are rarely released, it seems everyday the amount of animation movies are not being made and mostly a bunch of live action stuff. Look at fucking Elio, I go to a theater weekly with my sister to just to see random stuff and no one watched Elio till the 3rd week they had to sell discounted movie tickets, for a fucking pixar film! Even then, no one went and they took off the film at the 4th week, people went to see Superman, Jurrasic Park, F1, even that How to Train Your Dragon remake. Animation is in a stagnant place right now and I don't movies like Hopper or Smurfs or even fucking K-Pop Demon helpers will help

Nobody makes new content because it's much easier (and quicker to the dopamine) to just shit on other people's work.
Another reason nobody makes OC content is because some loser will just steal it and repost it on Reddit/Twitter/YouTube/etc. for upvote farming so the whole site went into self-sabotage mode purely to keep that from happening.
Not to mention it's been proven that bots regularly take thread images and text from old threads and repeat them ad infinitum. Sometimes they even bot replies. You can see it for yourself in the archives.

The absolute worst part of all this is that all the problems listed aren't a 4chan exclusive problem. This is just where it's most noticeable.

Does anyone else find it bizarre that they still treat a lot of schizos with borderline impunity after the shutdown, when their negligence of /qa/ and allowing schizos to fester there is what caused the shutdown in the first place? I was hoping they'd have fucking learned from that experience and properly cracked down on them.
