the "make sure to get a full harem, son!" was too far. as a casual Superman fan (I don't know all the what-whats happened in books or anything) it was shocking and uncomfortable to hear the "real, full" message

I was in the theatre stunned. did they really throw Superman's parents under the bus like that? um... what? did they? are they going to.... nope. it stuck. I thought they were going to un-do it somehow, but they kept it! Superman's biological parents were dicks. it kinda distracted me for the rest of the movie, trying to figure out how they could un-do it.

it's too late for Superman to re-brand with a new logo. um... now he will MAKE that symbol stand for truth & justice & whatever instead of conquer & harem. take THAT biological parents!

Matt Reeves did the same shit to Wanes in his Batman and none seems to complain about that. The modern day consensus among writers seems to be daddy issues=depth.
