Joker has only killed 3000 people total in main universe.
That sounds like a lot but if I said 3000 mutants suddenly it's a statistic

If you think Gotham is bad, Hub City is cartoonishly evil to the point of almost being grimdark. There's homeless men using dead babies they dig up from dumpsters to beg for money and like everyone is a pedophile

For every criminal Punisher puts down, another pops up in their place immediately after. And he's unable to do anything about the really big villains. His most consistent enemy is the Kingpin, but since Kingpin is a major character in the Marvel universe, Frank will never be allowed to actually kill him.

That's the sad joke that is Frank Castle's life. He kills and kills and kills and nothing actually changes. His just as ineffectual as Batman.

The real issue is that the Marvel heroes are character assassinated far worse and more often than DC. The worst example of it in DC was Hal Jordan (who has since been completely redeemed). Meanwhile every notable "hero" in the Marvel Universe was turned evil or compromised in some way at some point for cheap sales.

The Marvel Universe is like an edgy tryhard knockoff of the DCU and it has been ever since they moved away from the F4 being the focal point.

It was explained in the comic that something was messing with Superman ( and Cap's ) minds to make them more paranoid. Also Superman's first encounter with the Marvel Universe was seeing people about to lynch a mutant.

Cap meanwhile thought all the DC heroes were fascist dictators because the civilians in their universe didn't hate them.

Yeah, lets ignore half the of the marvel superheroes heroes turned evil at some point and how 90% are not heroes but gray assholes with superpowers.
Gotham was a shithole even before joker and half the batman cast of villians was even a thing, not because of batman.
Important fact to know, marvel civilians hate 90% of his heroes because those civilians know all of them bring collateral damage, heck marvel had a corporation that clean superhero damage to cities.
While dc heroes are loved because 90% of them, don't bring as much destrucion, and all of them care about their civilians and while they try to be an actual superhero archetype with good ethic and morals, heck flash is so loved his own city made a museum not for one but all the flashs and speedsters that helped the city.

That phrase about marvel being humans trying to be gods while dc comics are gods trying to be humans exist for a reason.

While I think batman is morally and ethically right about heroes not killing because they are not the judge, jury and executors. Is pretty stupid to defend drug dealers that are being executed by someone else, someone who's not even a hero.
If I was a hero, i wouldn't kill at all, but if some dude have the guts to deal with all the legal trouble, moral and ethics. To do it facing the consequences of it, i wouldn't give a damn. But killing on a group is stupid too, because i cant tell someone can be just collateral damage who did nothing wrong, even if they are technically living a goon life, just have goon friends or are dicks, but never killing anyone.

What was the reason marvel heroes lost their shit when superman defeated thor?
What so special about him, he's just another hero, maybe a god. But he wasn't an important hero at the time.

It's bleak, but I've always loved that bit because it solidifies the divide of evil people often fail to recognize, active and passive, as well as the fact a city of mostly amoral civilians can be worse than a city of a few immoral criminals, you can't punch away indifference.

There's even an interesting question pun intended of whether one should help such a place. True or exaggerated it's like tales of Carthage practicing child sacrifice and how many believed their destruction was due for that and other consequences. If you could defend them against that; should you?

Batman Begins sort of dipped its toe into that but Gotham wasn't as vile to make it uncertain if Bruce did the wrong thing.

At least it made sense for marvel heroes to hit superman at the same time.
I always hated how in dragon ball everyone waited his turn to fight a villian that could potentially kill not only earth but the whole universe. Ridiculous.

A lot of heroes hate Spider-Man. It's kinda the funny thing about him, as a reader who knows Peter, his upbringing, and beliefs we know he's usually a good egg, but to others he's just a creepy guy with a secret identity, somewhat evil looking outfit, and talks a whole lot of shit to everyone

It's a shame to me that he kinda lost a bit of that role as Douchepool became more mainstream in universe as an actual hero and kinda stole that role

In an x-men book, where spidey hate is the worst, cable mentions he was destined be the greatest hero of all in the future. While is common spider-man hate in other books. I agree with this anon, hack writers like to flanderize Spiderman hate to comical and stupid levels.

The thing to note is that the Spider-Man hate was something that happened when Peter was young and angry and talked shit to the others before thinking.
Then around the time he finished college he mellowed out and started integrating himself with other heroes in a more respectful manner with guys like Johnny, Logan, and even Steve championing him to the others.
Now were trapped in the eternal stagnancy era where the books will warp whatever character traits the author perceives the to of had when it his "turn with the toy" instead of a strong unbiased editorial moving things forward consistently.

Anything overdone can be bad but I kind of like the dynamic, it emphasizes that Peter IS a secret identity character in a world where many heroes are more public. And that while out of universe, he's Marvels golden boy, but in the comics universe itself he's not, The Avengers are closest to such a thing
