Considering how long this has been in development following the forced Korra-flop Hiatus, it'll be interesting to see if it's another Iron Heart level time capsule of 2020-21 where the dumbest writing ever is used to push a message about privilege in the most hamhanded and idiotic way imaginable again. Looking back on the Peele Twilight Zone era insanity and cringe inducing Owl House shit like her arguing with the neckbeard, it'll be fun just to see how bad it got or if they managed to at the very least get a decent story in there enough you don't care as much about it.

Though after Korra's writing shit the bed hard enough to lose 3/4ths of their viewers, I wouldn't bet money on it.

Guru Pathik was always a bit odd, wasn't he? What the fuck is a straight-up Hindu spirit-master doing in Avatar, which in so many ways is pretty heavily rooted in East and Southeast Asia? ATLA didn't have a lot of subcontinental stuff OUTSIDE of Guru Pathik, to the point that his presence seems a little out of place.

Not just him, but his spirituality, too. Chakras are very Hindu/Subcontinental, we never had a sign that the Avatar spirituality had a place for those sorts of things until Pathik basically dropped them on our heads like an anvil. And in the end the fucking stuff doesn't even work anyway, since Aang manages to master the Avatar State without letting go of Katara like Pathik told him to.

Also, representation is one thing, but something about this character design seems more like cheap, lazy pandering.
