>Barry Allen protects Central City as the Flash and is obsessed with time travel since reversing time to help the Justice League defeat Steppenwolf.
>Barry hopes to travel back in time to prevent the murder of his mother Nora Allen by a “red-eyed demon” and the wrongful conviction of his father Henry Allen.
>Barry and Iris West used to date, but broke up due to Barry’s fear of losing the people he loves. Iris is the only person who knows he is the Flash.
>Barry visits physicist Dr. Jay Garrick, who somehow also knows he is the Flash and warns him against changing the timeline.
>Meanwhile, Barry’s mentor Detective John Alvins is murdered by his partner Lisa Snart as a diversion so her meta-human boyfriend Sam Scudder can break Lisa’s brother Leonard Snart out of prison.
>Snart and Scudder were professional criminals armed with advanced weapons, with Lisa acting as their mole on the inside.
>Lisa frames a petty criminal for Alvins’ murder, but Barry quickly deduces someone else is responsible and connects to murder to Snart’s breakout.
>Snart and Scudder track down Dr. Howard, the scientist who experimented on Scudder and gave him superpowers, and Snart steals a serum from him.
>The Flash intervenes, but Snart escapes after freezing and breaking his leg, and then frames the Flash for Alvins’ murder.
>Barry hides with Iris to recover, and they reconnect. Iris later writes an article defending the Flash, tipping off Snart that they have a personal connection.
>While Barry visits Henry in prison for advice, Snart and Scudder kidnap Iris to lure the Flash into a confrontation, during which Barry realizes Lisa is working with them and killed Alvins.

>Iris is killed in the crossfire, and Barry attempts to travel back in time to save her, but becomes lost in the Speed Force.
>Barry is attacked and nearly killed by Black Flash before a younger version of Garrick, who is also a speedster, saves him and helps him escape.
>Barry manages to travel one day back in time. He exposes and arrests Lisa for Alvins’ murder, then fights and defeats Scudder as the Flash before he kidnaps Iris, but Snart escapes.
>Flash chases Snart to an abandoned subway tunnel, where Snart injects himself with Howard’s serum and develops cryokinetic abilities.
>The Flash defeats Snart in a battle. Snart’s powers become unstable and ultimately kill him. Lisa blames Flash for her brother’s death and swears revenge.
>Barry visits Garrick, who reveals he was the Flash from a parallel universe and encountered Barry as a younger man in the Speed Force.
>Garrick has been stranded in Barry’s universe for years, where he doesn’t have his speed, and again alerts Barry against trying to change the timeline.
>Barry visits his father again, having deduced that the red-eyed demon is also a time-traveling speedster, and vows to discover the truth behind Nora’s death.

Captain Cold as your first film's villain is definitely a choice

Interesting way to include Jay. But otherwise I find this uninteresting, and I usually adore anything Morrison does. Maybe it's because I just don't find Captain Cold to be interesting.

I think it's likely Morrison was given characters to write a story around and didn't get a say on who they wanted as main villain

So when did they write this script? After the Snyder cut released?

It wouldn’t make sense to base the plot off of something that didn’t even happen in the Whedon release

>So when did they write this script?
In 2019, after Miller clashed with original directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein over their script.

>It wouldn’t make sense to base the plot off of something that didn’t even happen in the Whedon release
The final movie did the same thing.
