Since monday this week, I have started my new project.

I will be consuming nothing but stuff that came out before 2010.

So far I have watched Road to El Dorado, Antz, Batman (1989), Evangelion, Batman Beyond season 1, and Geronimo Stilton

I am reliving my childhood again without all the irks of modern media, it's great.

Shinji is not bisexual. His infatuation with Kaworu does not make him bisexual. Their relationship is a result of Shinji being at his lowest point and Kaworu swooping in and being the first person in his entire life to ask him how he felt and what he thought about things. Kaworu would have been a talking duck and Shinji would have been interested in him. Shinji never expresses interest in any other male too. Kaworu's compassion just confuses him for a bit.

Also Kaworu was supposed to embody who Shinji WANTS to be according to Anno, who has directly stated that Shinji was not meant to be attracted to him or hold any carnal desire the way he does towards the girls. I hate this bullshit like Twitter and Tumblr have pushed about Shinji's character it removes all of the nuance behind the episode.

remember when there was a character in paper mario 2 whose mean sisters would joke that she's a boy, because she's so ugly, and it even ended up in the tattle like "a girl.. er.. wait, is it a boy?" and then the new localization made it a tranny, and insisted with a straight face that it was always that way. as if we hadn't all looked up the translations a decade or more ago, and knew what it really said.

From a 1996 interview with yaoi magazine June. He also directly calls it a male friendship and makes a comment about how fickle yaoi fans switched to shipping Kaworu and Shinji the second Touji went away.

Well he did a bad job of it. This time it's not social media's fault.

A lot of stuff in Evangelion was misread or had people looking too deep into it before social media was really a thing, when a lot of the reasoning was "I dunno lol catholic imagery looked cool". Hell the only confirmation that the angels were aliens was in a book distributed in cinemas, I think.
