You have to make so many generous assumptions about what Yugi is actually capable of and the match scenario for him to win with "abilities and hax".
For starters, he's not going to just target Ash himself off the bat or even midfight, he has no reason to do that. It's a duel with a 10 year old kid. Even if we assume that he is aware it's a death match and is in "survival mode" then the same could be said for Ash, who would also not hesitate to merk him either in hand-to-hand or with a Pokemon if it meant saving himself/his team, and Ash should be notably faster and have enough strength to take Yugi.
As for the spells and traps, you have to believe that they have no physical tangibility (in shadow games), no travel speed, and zero casting time, all of which they exhibit, and that only "Yugioh magic spells and traps" can stop them from taking effect. The problem is that a "spell" or "trap" in Yugioh can encompass anything from a hole in the ground to a gust of wind to a fucking barrel roll. It's not impossible to neg them through what would be normal Pokemon techniques for Ash. Hell, he could just attack them outright to remove them. The only thing stopping that in Yugioh is the rules.
Speaking of rules, Yugi is not going to challenge Ash to a game he can't play with his team. He's familiar with Ka battles, which are basically Pokemon battles, and has too much honor and pride to put a presumably innocent competitor into a rigged game. He likes playing games and would want to beat him fair and square. Even if he was going to pull that stunt on him - Penalty games have to be manually issued by a Millenium Item holder during a Shadow Game, so if Ash's "cheating" incapacitated or killed Yugi outright, no Penalty Game.
I think SOME of Yugi's hax is gamewinning (IF he can get it to hit and stick) but the idea that he's going to pull sociopathic stunts while his opponent sits and does nothing about it is nonsense, especially if he has to overcome a stat defecit.

That's fair enough but ultimately the idea is that Yugi just has too much shit on his side compared to an opponent that does not. There's a reason people were hard pushing Ash's Gengar ripping out Yugi's soul because Ash really has fuckall besides a few different elements and the fact he canonically only can carry 6 Pokemon.

Think about what Death Battle actually does, how they actually approach matches. Hax is just a category that exists in the match for Yugi to take, and they tend to give generous interpretations more often than not. You want to try to have the benefit of arguing the fight outside of DB where you know what they're going to say while also pretending Ash's gigantic amount of antifeats also wouldn't apply, quit trying to have your cake and eat it too

I actually thought the animation for Miles vs. Deku was good. I know a lot of people had problems with it, but I thought it was great.

Even if you disagree about Deku losing, given the power gap between the two it makes sense for Miles to take little damage. It also put Miles in some kind of a mentor or elder role to Deku, and let Miles show how far he had come by defeating someone who had been down the same path as him. He wasn't just fighting Deku, he was TEACHING Deku. And I think that's very heartwarming in a way. That Miles would take the lessons he learned and help someone who was just like him.

If this weren't a Death Battle I'm sure they would have ended cordially and taught each other well. The alternate ending is weird, even if heartwarming in its own way. It was nice to see Miles reunite with his father, but it feels weird to have him just stand there and take that punch.

I haven't watched Deku's animr though (but after watching this fight I think I might watch a recap) so I might be missing stuff but as a big Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse fan I thought they did Miles justice and from what I saw they treated Deku with the utmost respect. What character has ever gotten an alternate ending made just for them?

The fight was stupid to start with, and the fight was the perfect length since Deku is many, many, many times stronger than Miles. It was a wrap the minute Deku took the fight away from a civilian area a started tossing buildings at Miles. In a fight between the two, the only hope Miles had would to be to keep Midoriya in a crowded city so that he can't use his full strength, and then spam Venom Blasts until Deku is KO'd. They even tried scaling Miles' durability to Falcon and his speed to Peter even though Peter is physically superior They even combined comic, Spiderverse and games Miles, and it still wasn't enough because Miles cannot do shit like pic related. If we discount all the statement wank and reverse-chronological scaling, Yugi doesn't have much at all.
Look at the VSBW profiles for the original series Yu-Gi-Oh characters and go to the manga section. There's literally no speed feats and the Gods peak at Large Town level via that Obelisk storm panel that gets posted here. The stats are where they are just because they aren't pulling scaling from stuff that happens in GX.
Even the storm feat is contentious by more moderate powerscaling standards (remember the Zappy comics?), but Ash should surpass it just by onscreen anime feats and sensible scaling. Off the top of my head Buneary freezing a lake is only a tier below that calc-wise and fully evolved Pokemon should be much stronger.
And you don't really need to argue for FTL Pokemon when the other guy literally does not have speed feats to use. I understand that people may not like VSBW, but this series ended 20 years ago and all they do is post feats and make calcs, even if they're redundant. If there were speed feats they'd be there. Even OS anime characters with the cross-series scaling peak at like hypersonic and I presume that's with generous scaling still.
