So did Elio end up bouncing back after word of mouth like that fire chick movie, or nah? I haven't been keeping track lately

No it didn't bounce back at all. It might make a comeback on streaming but unless Disney gives it some more marketing by the time it comes out on D+ everyone will have even forgot it existed and no one will watch it on streaming either.

No. If anything word of mouth might help Pixar's beaver movie.

This. You wouldn't even know it was ever a thing based on current movie trends. People want a must-see SPECTACLE, and Elio sure as hell didn't fit the bill

No. It was a literal 5/10 movie, very average, cutesy but a bit boring. It felt like there was a LOT just missing from the final movie, it's odd. You have Elio's clone but you barely see anything out of it, Olga and Elio's relationship feels bare bones, you have the camp that feels underutilized, the bully gets dropped, etc. I get a lot of it is due to the rewrites but they somehow managed to cut out the bits that seemed even remotely interesting, even the clone taking over Elio's life on Earth, despite it getting resolved with a hug in the end seemed more interesting.

That was Turning Red... I'm not entirely too sure what Elio was going for other than lonely kid.

Eh, I was holding out hope, but it didn't happen. Elemental had significantly better weekend drops. This is already starting to plateau, and is performing like Lightyear without that movie's higher hype-based opening. Live-action Dragon and Stitch ended up being the family movies of the summer.

I don't think it bounced at all.

It was meant for a 2024 release, it even had a trailer. Maybe that's why.
