Agree with this, the sisters now have a bigger focus in their world outside of Lincoln and the rest of the family, which means they're actual characters more so than "archetypes", they don't just "exist" around a specific protagonist, which means that shipping fics that commit to exploring these elements of canon have to be more creative in their approach and avoid overused tropes that reduce said characters to one dimensional gags like most harem fics used to do.

It's a shame that overall traffic isn't as high anymore, but modern Loudcest fics actually feel real and better written when they actually commit to following the canon, even if their boyfriends (in the case of the older sisters) are treated as obstacles.

I watched the new episodes last week.

"Nonna Your Business" was a decent episode.

The Louds are in Naples, Italy, where according to Gus of Gus' Games 'n' Grub, the best pizza in the world is made (a frankly daring claim to make if I say so myself). They follow Gus's directions (that for some reason he insisted on writing in marinara sauce) and find their way to the house of a woman named Nonna Viola, who's been expecting them. She tasks them to find the ingredients for the pizza all over the area.

Again, I'm not sure the crew even drew the place with any reference material. I've never been to Naples, either, but I'd expect it to be more…larger? Besides that, I don't know what was the point of this scavenger hunt. If they were told beforehand… On the other hand, the hunt itself was fine, but I question why they can't control Lynn. And the Mount Vesuvius sequence was a bit ridiculous. However, there were some surprises like Leni suddenly speaking Italian after eating Nonna's delicious pizza.

Otherwise, I don't really have much to say about it. I give it an 8/10.

"Alpining Away" was a somewhat better episode.

The Louds are in Switzerland, where Lynn is competing in the Snow Fury alpine competition. Then she sees a local boy named Henrik. Lynn ends up falling for him, and Lori and Leni decide to be her crush coaches to get them together. Things get complicated, however, when Lynn finds out that he's also competing in the Snow Fury.

I thought this was the stronger of the two episodes. I always thought the problem with "Singled Out" was that her "dehydration" explanation for seemingly having a crush was utter nonsense, so it seems the crew made the right choice to ignore that and switch to her characterization from "L is for Love". We got some good involvement with Lori and Leni in trying to help Lynn out the way they did with Luna in "Racing Hearts", which was a nice touch. However, I do think that they should have toned down Lynn's roughness and mayhem, especially around Henrik. They missed an opportunity to actually dive into Lynn's potential anxiety, like making her actually paralyzed and nervous, the way Marinette does in'Miraculous Ladybug'. And speaking of European shows, I am also dismayed by the lack of a sense of place. This time, they couldn't even specify a city; is it really that hard to throw a dart on a map and then do the research? I think a place should be just as much a character as the actual characters themselves, as true in storytelling as in urban planning.

Despite it all, this was the strongest episode yet. I give it an 8.5/10.

We can also see shenanigans with the Loud Family being "too much" for her at first. Maybe with Lincoln being a bit ashamed of his sisters, if they scare her off. I kind of miss that aspect of the early seasons where it felt like the zaniness of the sisters was a force to be reckon with, where Lincoln found it difficult to invite friends over because they chased them away.
Dating a Loud should feel like a trial, to see if the person can handle what it comes with.
