The fact that Watchmen is probably the best American comic and the best animated adaptation it can get is a crappy looking DTV release is depressing.
Random 80's OVAs look better. Watchmen should have an adaptation on par with Akira. But the American industry is a joke.

Hand drawn is expensive. You only got so many handdrawn cartoons in the 80s and 90s because it was outsourced to asian sweatshops!

Well yeah, '80s OVAs are literally the technical peak of anime, they were made during the economic bubble when the industry was flush with investment cash. The Japanese economy has still not truly recovered from 1992, it was to them as 2008 was to the west.

I know, but there are still shows and movies after 2000 that were still hand drawn even if they were colored digitally . Like Redline for example.

I didn't like how they telegraphed Adrian's villainous nature in the first scene with him. It's supposed to be a real surprise that he's the one behind everything, but that first meeting he already feels vaguely suspicious.
I also hated how sterile everything was. Biggest piece of worldbuilding the comics utilized was graffiti, and yet every single exterior is completely clean.

The scene where the fat man steps on the watch removes the little boy crying. Face it, Watchmen was only meant to be a comic book. The medium is the message.
>Doesn't try to emulate the colors at all >Uninspired voice cast >Mangled pacing >Changes the order of some scenes which flows horribly >Rorschach actor pronounced Pagliacci incorrectly >That very blatant animation error during the prison scene >The fact that it's in 3D >Animation is pretty stiff >Decided to do a movie and not just make a 12 part series that covers each issue
Not gonna compare it to Snyder's film because funny enough its almost like an adaptation of his Watchmen instead of the book itself. The only good Watchmen adaptation is the Motion Comic
