Smurfs is a subpar movie. The stunt casting is beyond belief. There's a musical celebrity Paradox with the disco having Rihanna's "Please don't stop the music." Far too often the plot just stops to leave room to talk, exposit, and explain, even in crisis situations. The animation leaves something to be desired as the linework they simulate is bizarre and somewhat jittery. Nothing interacts in the real world segments. They don't even step on the grass. I was left wondering why they have "real world" segments at all. They don't even bother to lipsync to the main dance number at the start of the movie. I saw that being played to WAP and somehow that was even more fitting.
In a crowded theater, my experience was:
A kids cried at the sight of the Poots. There was heavy snoring by the time they got Mad Max-y in Australia. Someone put up a tablet in front of their kid after the escape from the castle. The joke that most landed was "Kick@$$ Smurf."

>>149481909The plot of the last two movies is that the protagonist smurf doesn't know his or her place in the village and has to find one.
