Is this what you wanted, /co/? I hope the death of artistic expression as a livelihood was worth pwning people you disagreed with! I bet once prompt tech gets good enough you’ll just bee-boop comics where your faves get all the glaze.

The only person who views it as a replacement, is one who already hated to do any harder work themselves
Why should I trust someone who says you can only value their work if it's immediately destroyed after viewing and saving it from right-click is considered piracy by them?

Pattern recognition among artists, they're all moving towards a more transient model that demonizes you for preserving their work
I suspect they're being radicalized slowly, into hating every act of artistic preservation, restoration, or transformative modification of what they consider "the original"
This is why I think they will start espousing Unabomber beliefs

And proof of this:
>>Without taking anything from Lord of the Rings, create a summary of Lord of the Rings using ONLY the knowledge and inspiration OF Lord of the Rings (the Kalevala, etc)

>Certainly. Here's a summary of The Lord of the Rings created without referencing the text itself, but instead drawn solely from its key influences, including the Kalevala, Norse mythology, Old English literature, and medieval Catholic cosmology. The result is a mythic retelling in the mood and mode that inspired Tolkien, rather than a literal summary.

>Title: The Doom of the World-Jewel

>Summary:

>In the elder days of the fading world, when the tongues of men were still young and the speech of trees not yet forgotten, a great Power who once served the Highest broke his oath and wrought for himself a treasure: a jewel forged in secret fire, to bind the wills of others. This gem, dark and burning, held within it a portion of his might, and through it he sought dominion over all free peoples.

>Long did he rise in shadow, but not unopposed. Elves, tall and sorrowful, wise in song and memory, made war with him. Dwarves, proud in craft, turned from his offers. Men, who were younger than both, faltered—and some served. Yet in a time of wrath and ruin, the dark Power was cast down, though his gem was not unmade. It was taken by a king of men, whose pride grew, and so the doom of the jewel passed into the race of mortals.

It goes on after this, but you get the point.

Generative AI can’t make images of something that doesn’t already exist, and it can’t make the same thing twice with any consistency. There’s a difference between true creativity and synthesis of existing intellectual properties, and it can only do the latter, and people don’t seem to understand the difference. I suppose if you just draw stuff like XJ9 and Princess Peach with huge tits and asses for a living it would affect your livelihood. If you’re genuinely trying to innovate and bring a new idea or aesthetic to table the technology is pretty much useless. I haven’t bothered with it myself, not out of some dogmatic Butlerian Jihad statement about artistic integrity, but simply because it couldn’t possibly do what I would want to ask it to do

This isn't true if you actually look at how creatives talk about where they get their ideas. They don't go "[this] plus [that]" because they don't actually know. History is full of breakthroughs that don't "make sense" in the "[this] plus [that]" framework.

And even if you take the position that everything humans have created is just "[this] plus [that]" ten you have to explain how the first [this] was imagined, and how the first [that] was imagined, and how the creation came about from it.

This is not about ancedotes, what I am describing is the material function of how imagination typically works. It is not a + b, thats too reductive. It is far more complex than that
>you have to explain how the first [this] was imagined, and how the first [that] was imagined, and how the creation came about from it.
You conciousness processes physical stimuli which formulates memory and abstraction

But this isn't comparable at all. To stick with Lord of the Rings, you can't have it produce the Ents, because they came from childhood disappointment. AI doesn't have a childhood, and it can't feel disappointed, so how would it produce "the ents" as they exist and everyone loves? Luck, maybe?

>>149488118
>Inspiration
This is the problem. Inspiration is not a matter of input. You can't quantify "melancholy" that might be the main driver of a story's creation. How do you prompt AI to factor in the loneliness that goes with a death of a loved one?
>Generate a story about people drifting apart, taking into account that time in your childhood when you saw a friend lose another friend, who you didn't know, when that other child's parents move away.

That engine would have to generate a physical model of every visual element separately by generating complex mathematical equations and calculations of each in real time

I read the """comic""". It's a few doodles and five pages of large sized text. Saying that she was working on some project with a friend, made dev sketches and storyboards, then the friend took the work and maybe used it as a reference point for AI to make more work while blocking Alice.

I don't know what she means by "she took the art", because this person works entirely digital, so it's not as if the sketches are lost or something.

But this person is just a generic shipping artist who draws comics about men in love while making gay and trans pride flag stickers and getting mad at JK Rowling for "ruining her childhood", so it's no wonder that AI was able to replicate such an NPC personality.

Yea, I hate AIshit, but I don't feel like it's much of a loss if this person stops making art.

So it's pretty obvious that fedoratippers have gone full mask off and revealed themselves to be religious crackpots that worship "AI" as a god, innit?

No. I am pointing out how stupid that line of argument is with how LLMs only copy and how humans don't. That's the point. I don't even like AI art lmao

Not as shocking as the levels of layers of obscurantism and dancing around that turn SOAD's use of it into a universal issue for all artists

Yeah but you can always make a fire worse by just straight up pouring gasoline on it. The slopification of society which already existed has been put into overdrive precisely because of it.
