Optimus also has the benefit of having a leadership role from the get go, even in continuities where they age him down. Makes for a more interesting dynamic.

Yup based and true. and the IRL voice actor was inspired by his heroic older brother who was a soldier, and he got the voice from him. We dont get masculine inspiring heroes like this anymore. And in g1 cartoon he wasnt too prideful to chill out and have fun too.

However, Superman and Optimus are two very different characters. Optimus Prime isn't the nicest aw shucks fella, he's an experienced and wise soldier who's an optimist and idealist yes but his personality is way different than Clark Kent (who has to be considered, he's one part of Superman), Optimus feels like a caring but stern boomer big brother or dad who would teach you shit, how to skin a rabbit or throw a ball whatever, Superman feels like the character who's gonna show up out of thin air and save your beloved dog from being killed, it's two different feelings because their personalities are different

Superman is "the best and wholesome a human can be while dealing with not being a human, and also a god above everyone else and that's what his conflict is", Optimus Prime is "The strongest warrior of his kind who knows to go to war and be stern but also is kind, compassionate, and hopeful to his team mates"

It should be noted that Optimus doesn't WANT to kill Decepticons, because at the end of the day it only serves to expedite the extinction of their already dwindling race. He is more than welcome to negotiate, reason, even accept them with open arms after millions of years of war. He just doesn't show weakness when its him vs them

They’re not really comparable. He isn’t a “superman” in his setting (although he gets pretty damn close). He’s more like an action hero but also a robot. He can’t solo the decepticons alone nor are his strengths simply his battle capabilities

To approach the question, it’s simply that Transformers is not a superhero franchise. Prime would he considered boring if he was a super hero. Transformers is more about the conflict between the two factions and the characters (plural) within them. Superhero stuff is a lot more focused on the individual. Of course there’s comparisons like Justice League vs Legion of Doom, or Transformers Animated feeling like a Batman cartoon. My main point is that superman and prime just aren’t similar characters and they serve stories differently

I think the greatest example of Prime’s ethics that feels truly consistent was in when in Beastwars the predacons propose for a truce and everyone knows they won’t honour it and are only using it to secure an advantage and prime acknowledges that but says “if we don’t give peace a chance, what are we?” And he doesn’t just sit around waiting for them to attack he actually uses the truce and orders reconnaissance and espionage missions but nothing that would compromise the peace even if caught
