>Open the door to your Other Daughters bedroom to find her sitting on a stool in the dead centre of the room.
>She snaps her attention over to you the instant you cross the threshold, smiling.
>"Oh, father. I was not expecting you. I have finished all my homework for today and did not want to bother you. Is something wrong?"
"I, uh, made us some brownies. For afternoon tea. Would you like some?"
>Her smile twitches.
>"Of course I would. I would love some, father."
>You hand her the plate, the cake sitting tantalizingly on top, and her fingers wrap around the edges as she brings it closer to her chest.
>You stare at her.
>She stares back, forced smile on her face.
"Aren't you gonna take a bite?"
>She shivers.
>"Oh. Oh, um...yes. Obviously."
>Very slowly, she brings the brownie up to her face, glances over at you, and tears off a large chunk.
>She visibly winces as she swallows and returns to smiling.
"You know, you don't have to have any if you don't..."
>"NO! No, I...it's delicious, father. See?"
>She takes another bite, screaming internally.
"If you don't like brownies, it's okay. I can just take it back and get you something else."
>You grab the plate, and she refuses to let go.
>You have to wrench it out of her hands.
>Tears are springing into Button's eyes as you turn to leave.
>"P...please don't hate me."
"It's okay."
>"I'll hide it better next time, I promise."
"It's...look, how about we go to the park or something, instead of just sitting here? Would that make you feel better?"
>She waits for you to make the choice for her.
"Grab your sunglasses and follow me, Buttons."
>She springs off the stool happily.
