If they're learning the path to hapiness doesn't involve surgery to cha ge who you are then the remedy would be, I imagine, positive emotional relationships and perspective outlooking. Be receptive but no need to talk about it, just be there for them as they walk that road. They have to move their legs by themselves, but you are there to walk them through so they won't be walking alone.
