Steven, Greg's parents never opened a single letter he sent them, so they probably wouldn't have wanted anything to do with steven outside of maybe trying to control him like they did with Greg.
Steven's powers were unpredictable and him going to school would have lead to a lot of questions Greg couldn't answer.

Greg mainly.
I get not wanting to talk or bring up your controlling parents, but the fact Greg based his entire parenting style on being the extreme opposite of them, to the point where Steven had no real structure growing up and just too much freedom isnt a really good way to raise a kid.

The entirety of SU:F feels like a bad fanfic trying to "deconstruct" the completely benign premise of the original series by adding "real world logic" to it. "Oh a show about a little kid going on adventures, WELL now he has PTSD!!!" No. The whole point is that it's escapism. Like how gay would it be if kid heros like Ben 10 or whatever moped and complained about how they never got to live normal lives because they had to save the world? That would be fucking retarded

I remember when that episode first came out, the few people still defending greg were saying that he had written letters to his parents telling them they had a grandson and if they wanted to meet him, but they never replied or something. So it was their fault.

Greg reaching out despite his dislike for his parents is a good deed, but that he never told steven about them cancels it out.

Greg is a good dad to Steven, but Greg personal issues when it comes to the discipline needed to raise a child makes him a terrible father if that makes sense.

The Gems are aliens that don't even reproduce like a human normally does, so you could argue they don't know better. Greg Should.

I am fine with him having trauma after it since he was basically burdened as a child with fixing the mental , emotional and psychological failings of an entire civilization and his basically family (And maybe meta commentary on how the show was only through his perspective and that warped his and our perception of that entire world) .And the people he helped actually giving back for once .

What I am not fine with is him being retarded , shitting over his amazing father , and not being told he is acting retarded .

>>149513695
I'd be more on board with this if they had played that up in the original. Like, having Steven's pep talks not work all the time and having to uncomfortably listen to trauma dumping or whatever, and then having the gems ignore his advice and throw a fit acting crazy still. Other than maybe Jasper, his spiel worked on everyone 100% of the time the first time he tried it. All he ever had to do was run into the room and go: "Yay! We're all friends! Everyone's just feeling a little misunderstood, but don't worry! We can all just get along!" and everyone went: "OMG Steven, you're right! Yay! You're the most special boy ever and we love you, lets all be friends now!"

I feel like if everything went exactly the way it did in the original series he not only wouldn't have trauma, but he would have an unrealistic touchy feely confidence about being able to solve all problems with positive vibes. It would've been better if instead of doing the PTSD angle right out the gate they instead showed that now that he was older people treated him more like a weird guy instead of a cute kid and dealing with adults' problems was a lot harder than what he was used to as a kid and that making him bummed out and having to figure out how to grow and navigate that.

They were already in a relationship. They were in a relationship for 6 years. They dated from 6th grade through High School Graduation. Those are exactly the type of couples that get married right out of High School and stay together forever, and unless Sugar decides to arbitrarily break them up then that's exactly what they're going to do so there was no reason not to get married other than to gradually seed in the ever-growing message of "reject your boyfriend's marriage proposal" that's becoming more and more popular.

Also, no. Maybe I'd think about it if such inane requests as: "How about Mary Jane is played by a redheaded White Woman like in the comics?" stop getting taken as "ZOMG you must be a LITERAL NAZI" turnabout is fair play.

Hey, I don't know why the government doesn't do anything but it only stands to reason that's why Greg didn't do any of those things besides the fact that Steven doesn't get hurt or sick because he has gem powers. Honestly, it's kind of poor writing because as other Anons have pointed out you can't be really loose with the realism and have everything work off cartoon logic then turn around and try to be super series and realistic about everything and go: "Why don't I have a social security card? What about my 7th grade vaccines?" the implication was they had to keep him a secret because he was a magical half alien, but then that went right out the window.

I'm guessing off screen. He seemed to be a little off by the time of the movie, which I found a bit strange because all Spinel needed was for him to do his regular Steven bit where he hugs and cries with with her and says that sucks, lets be friends and she would've been fine but for some reason he decides he has enough friends and doesn't want to do that anymore, then in-between the movie and Future he develops the rest of his trauma. It honestly would've played better if they had started building it up in the OG series.

The gems and steven. Steven never cared about the human side of his family, not even when his uncle came to visit him. But i guess this happens when you hire writers who only did gay fanfics about anime characters

Greg.
Steven literally had to grow up living in a fucking van!
He never went to the doctor or to school and all that just because of his dad not wanting to put "pressure" on him because "oh my parents were really bad, Steven!"
And don't tell me it's money related either because the gems literally have a shitload of money and valuable antique human items they just hold onto for no reason
They could pay for Steven's college with ease the second Pearl pulls out the lost second sword of goujian that she just had for the past 2000 years

Frankly, I hate Steven more, so Steven. Yes, Greg fucked up as a parent, even considering his options as a single dad trying to raise a child on his own are limited even while knowing that the government would area 51 his kid and there's a trio of insane lesbian rock alien bitches always ready to stab him in the groin and leave him for dead while whisking away his retarded gem baby son. Steven fucked up as a person before he hit adulthood, which is a fucking accomplishment considering he's got people who literally worship the ground he walks on and lives in a Rebecca Sugar setting where there's probably trillions of only therapists he could pester if he was that much in need of help.

I always felt like there was some sort of agreement made with the Crystal Gems and the various human governments during their founding, that the gov stays away from Gem business and they stay out of human affairs.
Centuries of higher officials telling people to stay away from gem shit is why humans are so dumb when it comes to stuff, meanwhile the gems allowed all the human wars and slavery and such happen.

I think it's mostly Steven's. In the show, everyone that Steven helped were moving on and going for their dreams.

The only who couldn't move on was Steven. Feeling that no one needs him anymore. He started losing control of his gem power, Connie turned him down, and thinking that his dad was no different than his mom, but not knowing what his grandparents were like.

Greg fucked up, but not out of malice. I don't exactly buy that Steven would have been better off living entirely with humans given that he really is a gem and he needed to learn how to use and control his powers, but I think a better balance could have been struck, like somebody definitely should have sent this kid to school and the doctor lol
