NGL, I don't know who this Dodge Greenley is, but both discouraging and depressing seeing his artstyle devolve the way it did is. Both this and the industry reliance on a cheap, overused art style simply because it's easier to draw and animate is not only creatively stifling, but it also paints a grim picture on the current state of art and animation from the past 15 or so years. A grim picture that can do more harm than good in the long run at the rate it's been going.

Imagine spending thousands of dollars going to high fancy animation school in America, only to be taught to draw in such a simplistically ugly art style. Now imagine the animation you worked on gets canceled or scrapped altogether by execs as you drown in student loans and struggle to make ends meet. All the while, your artstyle gets neutered by curtailing to whatever crap the industry finds convenient. A sad state of affairs all-around.

Reminds me of back during the whole ThunderCats roar debacle when people were jokingly drawing characters as beanmouth reboots, this looks like one of those fake reboot images.

This artstyle has to be a result of executive meddling, most of the time beanmouth is a studio issue and not an artist issue, no person would willingly draw their characters as dogshit as this.

Adult Swim is based because they actually know how to appeal to adults without making all their cartoons Family Guy ripoffs like any other adult animation network these days. Shows like Smiling Friends, SuperJail, that JJ Villard stuff, The Boondocks, you name it, have primarily adult audiences (with the exception of 11-14 year old autists) as well as great animation.

Pibby has a shit artstyle and appeals to IPad kids, it wouldn’t fit on their network, I’m glad they dropped it.
